Re: Error – 'Kindle document creation failed'

Yes, I do the same with my Kindle – load the .mobi file for reading and checking.

If anyone can help, that would be appreciated.

Error – 'Kindle document creation failed'

I've just updated to macOS Catalina, downloaded the recent update for Scrivener (3.1.4), and I'm getting the KindleGen error messages again. Kindle document creation failed. KindleGen failed to generate a .mobi file at the expected location. Now, whilst I know I could simply upload the .epub version...

Re: Cannot compile tabbing within text

If anybody else is interested, I have figured out an unorthodox (and time-consuming) method to achieve tabbing within eBooks … use non-breaking spaces between the words you want separated. A little clunky, and not really proper , but it works for poetry, which has unorthodox formatting compared to p...

Re: Cannot compile tabbing within text

No worries, I know it's a bit of an edge case

However, as the previous version of Scrivener used to be able to manage it (could be a KindleGen change), I live in hope that there's a way around it.

Re: Cannot compile tabbing within text

Lol. In the preview the tabbed section looked as I wanted it to, but when posted it removed the gaps

Re: Cannot compile tabbing within text

Thanks for that – I've now been able to set some of the simpler tabs :)

However, I still need to do some more complicated variations, where there are multiple pieces of tabbed text per line, e.g.

Re: Cannot compile tabbing within text

Sorry, I just realised I didn't clarify that the issue is only with eBook/Mobi compiling and not PDF.

But thank you so much for getting back to me, JoRo :)

Cannot compile tabbing within text

I'm formatting some poetry in Scrivener which features several tabbed segments, but when I compile (using the ‘Text and notes use editor formatting’ option within ‘Section Layouts’), but none of the tabbed spacing is compiling. I was wondering if there was an obvious setting I'm missing when putting...

Re: Using Custom Metadata in Headers/Footers

Thanks for getting back to me, and for explaining the intricacies. As I do use Scrivener in that basic manner – one 'text' file per chapter, poem or short story – this seems like a limitation, but can understand that when people use more complicated structures (multiples 'text' files per chapter, et...

Re: Using Custom Metadata in Headers/Footers

I assume this is not possible, as, whilst I'm able to 'print' the custom metadata within the body of a page, it simply won't show in the header or footer … is there a particular reason why, if it can be compiled in the body, it can't be compiled in a header?

Using Custom Metadata in Headers/Footers

I've searched but couldn't find any concrete details about using Custom Metadata within headers or footers when using Scrivener 3. It would be very useful, especially when compiling a short story anthology.

Thanks.
