Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

I am pleased -- so pleased -- to report that after updating to iOS 13.4, DropBox syncing is working as expected with no crashing. I hope everyone else has the same experience. P.S. I was not having the problem on iPad, so that's why I made no separate observations about iPadOS 13.4. I can confirm th...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

I tried this with great enthusiasm, but alas, it did not resolve the issue for me. I hope others try it and and works for them! Just a reminder, for anyone keeping score at home: I have no Dropbox sync problem on my 2017 12.9” iPad Pro. It’s only happening on my iPhone 11 Pro. Both are completely up...

Re: Linking to Scrivener's "no style" default to Word's "normal" style.

Ioa - Thank you. I will give this a test with normal. I have already been using, to great benefit, the process of linking Scrivener styles to corresponding Word styles. It's opened up a whole new and better world to me. -Tom

Linking to Scrivener's "no style" default to Word's "normal" style.

I appreciate that Scrivener's style model is that the default is "no style." MS Word, of course, requires a style on all paragraphs. No style = the normal style. Is it possible in Scrivener to associate Scrivener's "no style" with MS Word's normal style for export? I ask because ...

Including vertical line and line numbers in margin

I am a trial attorney and use Scrivener heavily. Much of my work ends up having to be compiled into MS Word documents for collaboration with others inside and outside my firm. In legal pleadings in California, we have to have a vertical double line in the left margin of the document and line numbers...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

It’s a frustrating bug for L&L, too because of the difficulty to get it to repeat reliably. It’s not as convenient as automatic Dropbox sync, but you can sync manually through iCloud Drive and it works just fine. Have you tried it? If want to try it but you need detailed instructions, I can post...

Re: Ordinal Numbering of Chapers

I came a cross this very old post because I am trying to solve a similar problem. But I cannot seem to get this method to work. Should this still work as prescribed above in Scrivener 3 on macOS? The result I get when I try is that the numbering stream processes, as you would expect, but the replace...

Okay, Ioa, we can cross that one off the list of leads.

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

some, but not all, devices mysteriously don’t have enough RAM to finish doing something an iPhone 4 running iOS 9 had no trouble doing. :) Are you sure the issue is RAM? I've been having this issue on my iPhone 11 Pro, but not on my two-year-old iPad Pro. I've tried a series of troubleshooting step...

Placeholders and linked documents

I have a document that has boilerplate text that I want to include in a number of other document (let's call that the source document) using an <$include> placeholder. Is there a placeholder I can use in that source document that will print the title of the destination document on compile? I know if...

Re: Project will open on iPad, but will not open on Mac [Rebuilding search indexes]

Following these instructions did the trick. Project is repaired. Turns out there was something Scrivener did not like about the PDF I was importing. But the problem was not isolated to Scrivener. While the PDF opened fine in preview, it would also not open in PDF Expert. PDF Expert would become unre...

Project will open on iPad, but will not open on Mac [Rebuilding search indexes]

I cannot open a project that I originally created on my Mac, because of an error. But I can open still open it on iOS, despite the error. I'd like to find out if I can repair the project so I can get it open on my Mac. I will note that I'm using the Catalina beta, so maybe it is the culprit for the ...
