Re: Italics/emphasis character style persistence

The basic idea is that styles should be in addition to the default formatting you set up as default. Everything unstyled (ie in 'No Style') is passed through to the compiler transparently: everything styled is seen as an explicit design choice which you want to keep (or which you want to do somethin...

Re: Modify Uppercase Opening Words Feature

Sorry, Chuck, no I don't know what could be wrong -- it could be something quite simple (as in you're not choosing quite the right section layout perhaps) or some complex interaction. Clearly there's some difference somewhere, but what it is, I don't know without seeing the project itself. (And I'm ...

Re: Current line highlighting?

Pavel (and any others who are finding this a difficult issue), There is a way to get what appears to be a borderless highlight line in both editor and composition mode, but it needs a bit of fiddling. The basic process is simple but there's a fair bit of trial and error involved to get the right col...

Re: Modify Uppercase Opening Words Feature

Yes of course: TEST.scriv 2.zip Bear in mind, it's stripped down to its bare bones, so of course it doesn't include any other enhancements you may have made (ie changes to styles, CSS, etc) or set the page numbers properly etc. All it does is show you a basic format to have: a) An introduction with ...

Re: Manuscript for submission - template

It doesn't because you haven't selected the relevant section type to amend. TBH, the problem is that you're now in the advanced section of compile, where there is a huge amount of flexibility available, but which does require a basic understanding of how the building blocks of compile are supposed t...

Re: Manuscript for submission - template

The hash marks are the standard symbol to separate scenes in manuscript submissions. To change them, righthclick on the format and choose to edit it, then in the dialogue which appears choose Separators to change the hash mark to something else — choose from the drop down box for the Default separat...

Re: Manuscript for submission - template

You screenshot looks ok to me -- when it's double sided, page 1 has the binder margin on the left -- the other side of the paper (page 2) has the margin on the right.

Re: Manuscript for submission - template

Maelduin, Manuscript format is modeled on the format you'd submit to your publisher (which is always single-sided BTW) and it's always ragged edged on the right margin. If you don't want that, then choose another format. The other steps are the same. As for your other question -- what you're seeing ...

Re: Stop Capitalisation on New Line

Two ways to do it: which you use depends whether you want to retain the capitalise first words feature elsewhere. If you're happy always to type your own capitals, then turn off the feature in Preferences > Corrections > Auto-Correction and untick ' Fix capitalisation of sentences '. (See Bridey's p...

Re: Typewriter Scrolling Triangles Missing

IIRC the triangles were taken out at a very late stage of the beta -- too late for the Tutorial to be altered presumably. I imagine it will be updated for the next version.

Re: Outline view in individual documents?

]Going back to the original post, AFAIU, the desire is for some sort of visual structure for paragraphs within a Scrivener documents, which can then be collapsed easily to leave compile-ready text. However, the individual documents that make up my overall argument also have to be organised and logic...

Re: Label colours in Binder in Scrivener 3

Hi Tacitus, View > Use Label Colour in > Icons colours the icon in the cork board, outliner and binder. (It gets swamped if you have the Full Width Binder option set so that has to be turned off to see it — my screenshot further up the page has both the Binder and Icons set, but Full Width unset.) HTH
