Re: Stop YouTube videos continuing to play when accessed from Binder

Unfortunately we don’t really have any control over how a page works or how the embedded web page viewer in general works, either (it’s a mechanism provided by the Mac). What I’d wonder is, as this sounds kind of useless in its current state, why download the YouTube page into Scrivener at all? May...

Stop YouTube videos continuing to play when accessed from Binder

Hi As with many web-pages that I wish to store within Scrivener, I sometimes drag YouTube pages with videos into the binder. The only problem is that when these pages are accessed via the binder, the desired video starts and cannot be stopped, even when I leave that page/binder item. This means that...

Re: Ability to specify individual research items in Binder open as Quick Reference by default

I do get what you mean about having to first select something and then use a shortcut (be it Spacebar or custom), in that it impacts the editor. I think this is my issue. Thank you all for your helpful suggestions!! Well over-and-above the call of duty! I will try these work-arounds for now in the ...

Re: Ability to specify individual research items in Binder open as Quick Reference by default

As an aside, in these circumstances I frequently make my own custom short-cuts using the App Shortcuts preferences of Mac OS, but I don't think you can do this for 'click behaviour' rather than 'menu items'. If anyone knows how to do this (if possible), I would be grateful to hear it and be happy to...

Re: Ability to specify individual research items in Binder open as Quick Reference by default

The problem with a zillion different preferences is that people sometimes change a preference to achieve something and then at some later point in time do something similar and suddenly end up with a (to them at that time) completely unexpected result and just can't understand why, get angry and fi...

Re: Ability to specify individual research items in Binder open as Quick Reference by default

Thank you both for your input . I think a Scrivener preference setting which would allow option-clicking on a binder item to open in Quick Ref (rather than second pane as per current behaviour) is a good idea and would probably work very well in my work-flow (and probably be much easier to code). So...

Ability to specify individual research items in Binder open as Quick Reference by default

Hi I am a Quick Reference person in that I like to keep my writing in the main page and have research items open in a Quick Reference window (rather than see it in split-pane view) I know I can make bookmarks which open by default into Quick Reference windows, but what I really would like to do is r...

Re: Problem with importing websites after update Mac OS Mojave 10.14.4

Unfortunately there is no solution for this at the moment - 10.4.4 introduce a bug whereby web archives won't load using the standard method that Scrivener is using (this is a bug in macOS 10.4.4). I have found a workaround, however, which will be implemented in the next free update of Scrivener 3....

Re: "Sticky" 2nd Pane in Split View

AmberV Wow! What an amazingly full and speedy reply. Outstanding. Thank you so much! Your very first suggestion has totally sorted me out and added a modus operandi I will be using frequently, especially as I like to use keystrokes if at all possible. The other suggestions have also added to my know...

"Sticky" 2nd Pane in Split View

Hi Absolutely LOVING Scrivener. It is the bees knees. I come from a photography background & am acquainted with the most sophisticated software 'out there' and put Scrivener on a par with, or better than, Photoshop, Lightroom ... you name it. So massive kudos. My only request, and I have searche...

Re: Question about KindleGen.

Hi

Thanks for this

Have located the 64bit version of kindlegen and simply overwritten the 32bit one in the folder KindleGen_Mac_i386_v2_9

Should this do the trick?

Seems to work, but was wondering if I needed to do anything else.

With thanks in anticipation

Stephen
