Re: software for graph/image intensive pamphlets

Swift Publisher comes to mind as a good tool for that purpose.

Re: Looking for a good clip manager

PTH is a good option. I'll add Keyboard Maestro. Clipboards are just one of its features. Be sure to read the manual or help to take advantage of its advanced features, such as specifying the number of clips to keep. I liked PTH better since I had multiple clipboards, but IIRC Keyboard Maestro works...

Re: Processor vs Scrivener

Can anyone give me a general rundown as to what a word processor like Word 2010 can/cannot do vs Scrivener? I'll just add that Word in particular can do plenty of things not common in many other word processors. For example, integration with Excel (Mail Merge), integration with PowerPoint (Send to ...

Re: Lion: First Impressions

Speaking of dragging files, did Apple ever fix the bug of potentially losing data when moving files? From TUAW in 2007: "Having tested this on both Leopard and Tiger, I now agree that the Leopard issue is more serious than the Tiger issue. Under Leopard, instead of just a file in progress disap...

Some of you might be interested in this. I just made a color scheme for Tinderbox. http://hotfile.com/dl/127600977/f39fe7a/Eddie_Pastel_Colors.tbc.html If you open Tinderbox, go to Windows and select Attributes, there's a Tab to show the default colors. These go from black to yellow. If you drag the...

Re: Best word processor to export to for theses?

Mellel's policy is more reasonable. If/when they ask me for an upgrade, I'll gladly pay. Tomorrow they're releasing version 2.9. The new version is out. It turns out I have free updates for life. Re: Best word processor to export to for theses?

For compatibility purposes, when I was working on my dissertation I was using Word. It worked great for both Mac and PC, and handled my Chair's comments nicely. Pretty much the only trouble I had with Word for Mac up to the 2008 version was due to OS X 10.5. After doing a clean installation of 10.5....

I have not tried the synchronization features, but some additional applications you may want to consider: Task Coach (Free and quickly evolving) http://sourceforge.net/projects/taskcoach/ ThinkingRock (The best GTD application I've used, and I have a license for OmniFocus) http://www.trgtd.com.au No...

In Curio you can group items and, if they are too far apart, you can zoom out and view your whole document.

Re: TypeIt4Me on sale at the App Store

I guess it depends on your clipboard manager. In CopyPaste Pro TypeIt4Me did not add any of the expanded text as a clipboard. The same goes for PTH Pasteboard. In Keyboard Maestro 4 it affects the Clipboard History Switcher, but not the Clipboard Paste Switcher. I briefly used iClipboard 1 since it ...

Re: Using Keyboard Maestro to Consolidate Keystrokes

I love Keyboard Maestro. From a customizable Pasteboard to text expansion to other type of Macros, it is a huge time saver and may replace multiple applications. It has saved me many hours of work, and works for simple stuff as well. For example, I recently replaced my Apple keyboard, and thanks to ...

Re: Two FileMaker Half-price Offers

I'm a former FMP user as well. Tried Bento and never liked it. OTOH, I just love Panorama. The downside is that pricing and upgrades are as bad as FMP's in terms of expense. Fortunately they're less frequent. I got tired of FMP's paid upgrades. They recently made Panorama Sheets available, and that ...

Re: Nisus Writer Pro 2 is released

Thanks for your response Keith. I agree with you. It's just frustrating that I reported bugs for over a year and will have to keep on using the buggy version. Prior to this release, there were no updates to Nisus Writer for over a year. I feel like I did whenever I bought a version 1 application fro...

Re: Nisus Writer Pro 2 is released

A big disappointment? But why? Because the upgrade as such isn't very interesting, or because in your opinion it's too costly? Out of principle I do not like bug fixes not being part of a free update. I can't comment on the actual software since I have not tried it, so the software itself may not b...
