Cmd-Z, as in all apps on Mac?

Mark

That's a thing? That would've saved me a lot of freaking problems had I known sooner.
Thanks

Re: How do I keep track of my chapters if I have to break them down in dozens of documents?

Perhaps this is my own personal quibble I need to sort out, but I was concerned about being daunted in having to rearrange a long extending list of documents and keeping track of all of them like that. That's what the metadata is for. You don't have a long list of "document 1," "docu...

Re: How do I keep track of my chapters if I have to break them down in dozens of documents?

Well, I have a lot of material, and the thought of splitting it into dozens, if not hundreds of single documents into folders already bugs me out, such as if I have to rearrange them, and end up not being about to find where one is or get the full picture because its so unorganized and spend my tim...

Re: How do I keep track of my chapters if I have to break them down in dozens of documents?

Keeping track of hundreds of smaller documents, reorganizing them if I find I don't like the lineup. And what to do should one of them gets corrupted and if I overlook it because there are so many documents and I won't be able to find the backup for it. I wanted to know if snapshot works with a 400...

Re: How do I keep track of my chapters if I have to break them down in dozens of documents?

The risk of losing text is bigger if you have everything in one single document in the binder because then it is literally saved as one single file on your HD, whereas if you have the binder split up in hundreds of smaller chunks, then each document in the binder is saved as an individual file on d...

Re: How do I keep track of my chapters if I have to break them down in dozens of documents?

Your posts are very unclear, which often suggests that the poster hasn’t done the tutorial and doesn’t understand how Scrivener functions. What’s your specific problem? Keeping track of hundreds of smaller documents, reorganizing them if I find I don't like the lineup. And what to do should one of ...

Re: How do I keep track of my chapters if I have to break them down in dozens of documents?

What if your 400 k words file got corrupted? Then all is gone. You have overview in the binder. How do you get overview in a continuous 400 k word document? I thought the snapshot would take care of that...and what if one of of the numerous ones gets corrupted and I never know it and delete the bac...

Re: How do I keep track of my chapters if I have to break them down in dozens of documents?

Hi mjw, Sorry to say, I'm really not clear on what you're asking. I've organized my WIP novel by sections (folders), and then grouped scenes (documents) within the sections, if they feel like they belong there. What I'm calling sections may or may not turn out to be chapters, so I decided not to ca...

Re: How many words can a single document hold?

Not while writing, but if you want to make a backup copy sometimes while writing (a backup, not just saving) it would take quite some time to make a complete copy of the whole project and then zip it. And without backups, what would happen if your project got corrupted? A few million words down the...

Re: How many words can a single document hold?

And in case you mean document in a loose sense to describe the entire Scrivener project, and its 200,000 words scattered into a bunch of different items in the binder already—then in that case you shouldn’t be running into much by way of performance issues, there is probably something else going on...

Re: How many words can a single document hold?

It depends on your computer. There is no absolute limit. It's been tested with projects (not single documents) well north of a million words. But why don't you want to break up the document? Most of Scrivener's advantages come from the ability to break a project into smaller, more manageable chunks...
