Re: Comparing to how others do it -- Scrivener releases, etc.

For anyone that's interested, Affinity have just dropped the price of Publisher by about 50% … That’s why we’ve put in place three new measures which we hope will help at least some of you out there. These are: I was so impressed by this that I bought a copy of both Photo and Publisher. (As commerc...

Re: [SUGGESTION:4434] Em dash / Horizontal bar

Note that in North America em dashes are sometimes used at the end of dialogue to represent an interruption or other sudden break in conversation. (But you're right that they are not used in place of quotation marks.)

Re: Comparing to how others do it -- Scrivener releases, etc.

That's a great looking set of applications, albeit only from what I saw from their website. I always like seeing alternatives to the Adobe subscription model.

Re: [Bug] [B40] Spelling mistakes when ` (backtick) followed by punctuation

In the examples given the punctuation should be inside the quotation marks regardless of UK or US grammar That might be true—although I'm actually skeptical in this case, since single quotation marks that denote words as words (according to UK style used in the US anyway) are normally treated separ...

Re: Forced constant beta update

Nothing about a beta program (this or any other) is forced . Beta programs are offered to customers free of charge. Some companies don't even offer them at all. Companies are under no obligation to offer beta programs to anyone, nor under any obligation to adhere to any kind of procedure at all for ...

Re: Wrong smart quote mark after bracket

I should add that if it's the case that the program can't determine if it should be an opening or closing smart quotation mark, then it shouldn't use a smart quotation mark at all. Instead, in the absence of certainty, it should use a straight quotation mark. While perhaps not completely correct, it...

Re: Help! AutoHotKey script to swap Ctrl+V and Ctrl+Shift+V

Are you actually on beta 23? I could have sworn I was. I always install the version on the site on the first of each month. But the version I had installed on the first of September said "This Scrivener for Windows Beta expired after September 15, 2019." So, I assumed it had been given a ...

Re: Help! AutoHotKey script to swap Ctrl+V and Ctrl+Shift+V

Something like the following should work: #IfWinActive, ahk_exe scrivener.exe ^v::^+v #IfWinActive, ahk_exe scrivener.exe ^+v::^v I don't like the inelegance of the multiple entries, but when I tried a block of code with send commands, it resulted in an infinite loop of key presses. Note that I test...

Re: New Beta version via Update-option OK?

About six months ago, I realized I had never uninstalled previous beta versions, thinking the installer would just take care of things. I ended up with a long list of entries listed as being installed. It never caused any harm. The next time I installed, I uninstalled all of the old versions first. ...

Re: [LH2761] Inconsistent spacing between 2.9.0.2 and 2.9.0.3

I'm facing the same problem with 2.9.0.6—and I have with every build since 2.9.0.3. In short, any spacing greater than 1.0 results in something roughly five times as much as it should be. This happens on both new and old documents as well as on Windows 10 and Windows 7. It's unfortunately made it im...

Re: [LH214] Scrivener always starts maximized

I am now leaving a 5-pixel gap between my taskbar and the bottom of my window, and between the top of the screen and the top of my window, in order to circumvent this issue.

Re: [BUG] Scrivener always starts maximized

There is a known issue whereby a project window will reopen maximized if its height extends to the top and bottom of the screen (or to the taskbar) That is exactly my situation. All I need to do is "restore" the window. Unlike what the original poster seemed to suggest, its screen size an...
