Warning: If you are upset when someone else's reality is different from yours-- do not read. Seriously, I don't get it. After reading some of the posts in this thread, I opened Scrivener, got the pop-up announcing a new beta version, and updated to Beta 36. Six or seven mouse clicks and just under s...
So, it's time to upgrade Wine. Wonder how many people are running Scrivener under lower versions of Wine? As I said, the memory allocation issue also caused my systems to hang at shutdown.
Hi, brookter, I'm no whiz at the terminal either. I'm running Xubuntu 18.04, Wine 3.0 (That's what's in the standard repository. Staging has always given me trouble when I've tried it.), Scrivener-- latest beta. Probably irrelevant-- older I3 Dell desktop and an ASUS I5 laptop. I have the same issue...
Hi, jd, To be fair, I wouldn't expect any company selling Mac and Windows software to provide support for running their product on Linux. L&L's tech support has helped me in a couple of instances, however. The place to get help with Wine, POL, etc, is here in the forums. Someone will come along....
Hi, all, There's a thread on this but it hasn't drawn any new responses recently. Scrivener 2.9.XXX (the latest beta) running under Wine on Xubuntu 18.04. Scrivener doesn't release memory when I exit the program. If I close Scrivener and start it up again later, it grabs another chunk of memory. Eve...
Hi, all, Been playing with the beta versions. All the options for customization are a procrastinators dream. I want to be sure I save all the changes I've made, so I have a question. In options>manage there are three options to save 1) theme to file; 2) theme options to file; and 3) options to file....
If I understand what you mean, when you click on a file with a .scrivx extension it opens in Word. It sounds like Windows changed the default program for .scrivx files to Word. There's an easy fix but it's been years since I've used Windows . If this is the problem I'm sure someone more familiar wit...
Thanks for the replies. One of you mentioned scrivenings and gave me an idea. I went back and played around with both the 1.9 release and the current beta. I can use up/down arrow keys and scroll through the whole manuscript in all three modes in both versions except for scrivenings in the beta. I s...
(Tried to post this earlier but something went wrong. Wormhole? Anyway, apologies for possible duplicate posts.) Hi everyone! I've been playing with the beta version. Really nice, guys. Just a comment: One criticism of 1.9 was the interface looked dated. Maybe it's just me but I don't see much diffe...
I"m getting a new OS install ready and looking ahead to version 3. If I install the beta version now, what will moving to version 3 involve? Upgrade option from within Scrivener? Uninstall beta; install version 3? Will I be able to import preferences?
I haven't used Windows in years, but just to clarify: When you say you loaded the file, how did you load it? Drag and drop? Copy and paste? Where is the file located? Hard drive? DVD? The path to that file looks strange to me, even for Windows but the Windows users here are better judges of that. I'...
@ Cranky After looking at some of the other posts in this thread, I need to change some things from my previous posts. After the new install of Scrivener and manually starting Paddle.exe, I was able to activate the program. I still get the error message about not being able to connect to the server....
Just a follow-up on my previous post. I realize this is a Windows forum, but the process of activating Scrivener is essentially the same between Windows and Linux. The good news: I was able to uninstall/reinstall Scrivener, and activate it by manually starting paddle.exe before starting Scrivener. (...
