Yeah, I'm going to try to get them to change it over there. You're right it's esoteric, it's really a basic limitation for "file synchronization" and it's sorta Apple's fault for adding the package layer but making it a second-class citizen within HFS+. I don't mean to sound too pessimisti...
Hi all, this has come up again over on their forums. Sorry to disappoint, this really has nothing to do with metadata and so Dropbox 0.8 won't fix anything unless Scrivener uses extended attributes or resource forks (and it ordinarily doesn't, AFAIK, unless you drop a really old school file in your ...
You can get into situations where an older file on one machine overwrites a newer one from another machine, particularly with applications that autosave. Not exactly -- According to its developers comments in the forum, DropBox compares each file to a hash of the one it last updated. So the worst t...
Thanks! I think I might have figured something out with your help -- rather than just putting on an "rtf" extension (which is what I did last time), this time I actually SAVED THE FILE as RTF.... MS Office was a little worried about it, and sent a warning telling me I'd lose stuff, but I ...
Hi When I copy text from a pdf file (within Scrivener) many if not most of the spaces between words are lost. Does anyone know why this happens or if it can be sorted out? It's because the text system is trying its best to read text that has already been rendered to PDF, so a lot of the information...
Tried saving as an RTF with footnotes and Scrivener rejected the import altogether -- message received said: "Some files could not be imported because they were of an unsupported file type." That's strange. Did the file end with lowercase ".rtf" after you saved it? Is it the cas...
Update: I managed to get it to write out a file word could handle. I had to undo some formatting I had done. I wanted centered large text like the title page, so I copied the text elements from the title page and inserted them in several places (the novel is divided by months). When I removed the s...
I have fixed up the buggy RTF list tables so they at least work a bit better now, anyway. Testing a bit more shows that even multi-level tables import into Word/Nisus okay-ish (bullets intact, at least), but they'll most likely still need some fixing up. Best, Keith Keith you're amazing...! One tho...
Well, the tech guy didn't, but I posted on the dev forums and the Apple text guru who my tech guy actually consulted (it turns out) got back to me... So... Hmm, maybe it will be back in after all! We shall see... Everything I said earlier, applies, mind - about all annotations and/or all footnotes ...
Though I've recently used Scrivener / Bookends / NWP, I haven't seen this problem -- Does it make a difference if you edit the RTF file first in NWP, re-save, and then scan?
Is there any way to ask scrivener to give me a simple set of formatting styles to use If it's just a few varieties of consistent formatting you're after, to save time in the Word processor, you can customize the "OS X" text system "Styles" popup menu that appears in the Ruler. S...
I used Nisus for a 125 page document from Scrivener. It exported all right, but then it kept freezing when I was doing the final edits. Very alarming. I sent the file to Nisus support (twice) but have had no reply. So I gave up, went to Mellel - which I like using - but it's a real nusiance having ...
Anyway OS X help said to look in Apple Recent Items. I found my file there, but I am perplexed because it wasn't anywhere else . I spent a couple of hours looking for it. Is this a Scrivener problem, a Leopard problem, an operator problem, or an astrology problem? How likely is it to recur? What ca...
If it, apart from the last global root command, but that's not necessary for Input Managers anyway. Just setting them to admin ownership (if they aren't already) should be enough. I've installed several IMs on my 10.5 systems (Inquisitor, PicLens, Plaxo) by just manually creating the folders and ma...
