Re: Find: my files are all over the place within Scrivener

Have you considered a program like Pathfinder ? It has the capability to search packages across folders. I used it to search for conflicted files in various Scrivener files I'd managed to corrupt (such (self-inflicted) fun). I'm not sure if it can search for text within a file, but as Spotlight does...

Re: Starting a Story

Thank you so much for writing and posting this, Lord Lightning. Your perspective on intention is so helpful--trying to get at a character's desire has tended to flummox me, and your nuanced approach has given me really helpful ideas. I bend my knee to your patched eye. You know, salutations in the m...

Re: board navigator as in Scrivener ?

Oh, very nice! Thanks for asking the question, fer, and for your solution, AmberV. I also have been using Scapple for more kinds of writing--brainstorming, taking notes, collecting research bits--and the collections are starting to get unwieldy.

Zoom to Random is brilliant

I just discovered Zoom to Random, which is a brilliant feature--I might use that when I'm stuck and not sure what to focus on next, or stuck for ideas: for instance, brainstorming on a randomly-selected snippet. I've got a larger Scapple document sketching plot pieces and associated research bits, a...

Re: Learn Scrivener Fast sales pitch - heard of it?

mmm, my alarm bells are going off on this one, especially given the site's Affiliates http://learnscrivenerfast.com/affiliates/ page: Equal Partners The Learn Scrivener Fast program pays you 50% commission for every package option you sell (basic $97, Master $147, and Ninja $197). Get In Early One o...

Thanks for sharing your lovely timeline tips, TromboneAI, and Fumio, for calling attention to this. I especially like the simplicity of your system, TromboneAI.

Looks interesting. Terrific job, indeed--and it appears that "the boys and girls have done a terrific job." :)

Scrivener's still my favorite, though.

Re: Organizing 200+ articles in a single project?

I hadn't realized that, Katherine. I've placed image files (jpg's), PDFs and web pages without a problem. I hope I haven't misled. I haven't tried to compile these, though. For a blog project, for instance, I've used the 'Drafts' folder for a mix of text and research--and for short writing li...

Re: Organizing 200+ articles in a single project?

You might consider a small prototype or pilot file--starting small at first, say with 20 articles? I wonder if the Recipe collection template might be a useful starting: each category could be an article, with its research contained in that folder. I sketched some possibilities. Recipe prototype.jpg...

Re: Writer's Block? Maybe it's in your ears

Interesting. I'd love to know what reporters' reactions are, especially as the sound of typing gets more insistent. <image of The Scream> I'll look into KeyClick--thanks. Sometimes I like the tinkling sound of the ommwriter typewriter. Sometimes not. I wonder if the mere presence of background sound...

Re: Any way to add existing Note to Stack?

Thanks for your explanation on stack behavior, Keith. One quick note: when I drag to select notes from top to bottom, their order changes. When notes are individually selected from top to bottom, they stack nicely in that order. Aha! I like the idea of being able to add notes to the middle of stacks...
