Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

I do a Skype video chat with my 13-year-old grandson most days. On Saturday I showed him our brief and chatted to him about the NOVEL IN A DAY. I suggested that whilst he is in 'lockdown' he could also write a novel, and we could check up each other's writing each day to see how things were progres...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

I made a mistake  Used a name twice for different made up characters. Might not be noticeable, but I know it's there. Orange is readable fun! Roberta gettin' things done! Thank you all very much for this cozy project. Hope more folks can get what they need out there. “If there’s a best part o...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

Done, with two minutes to spare! I figured I'd go with exactly 1,500 words since I was pretty close. Looking forward to see if anybody else built out the steam-engine plot, and how well the supply lines for coal held up. Can we do citations and acknowledgements? I'd like to credit this study of food...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

Up for my final polish. Turned my draft over to a friend's extra eyes.

Reading the Forum I realize I wrote 1600 words about Washington DC and forgot about handguns.

Only fifteen years since I moved from The States, I've become Canadian.

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

1,518 at Midnight in Vancouver. I wrote my kids in, and there's an squeezebox, but I haven't decided if it's a good accordion, or a bad one. Governments and religions fall by decisions like this. Now I'm going to risk going to bed with an early alarm for a last polish (and a friend's proofread). I ...

"Include in Compile" check-box in the Inspector

I wish there was an "Include in Compile" checkbox available globally down at the bottom of the Inspector. Is there a way to add a "Compile?" indicator to the inspector where the Label and Status indicators are? That's one thing I miss from having the metadata above the notes in 2...

Re: Adjective highlighting

I just tried out the Adjective Search function for the first time and it's pretty amazing (the little things....)

Mostly wanted to point out that it's there for others who find these old posts while searching for it.

Perfect! Thank you. I was pretty sure there was a way to do that. Whew.

Re: Hide a file from Scrivenings view

Meanwhile though, there is a way to hide things from working views: hold down the Option key when you click on a group, and all items within that group that do not have an “Include in Compile” checkbox will be left out of the Corkboard, Scrivenings session or or Outliner. Can you expand on this: I'...

Success using Scrivener & Bookends (& Word) for a long manuscript

I don't know if this will help anybody, but I finally got my Scrivener/Word/Bookends workflow to export my 500 pg heavily annotated manuscript. I wanted Bookends unique id citations for export, but also non-printing links back to Bookends to connect to my original documents and research. What worked...

Find Frequency of specific character?

I'd like to be able to Find the number of times a specific character appears in my project. I'm trying to count the number of annotations, and they all start with "{" so it would be easy if I could count that character. If the Find command included a "total number found" that wou...
