Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

To be clear, we agree that there is a problem and are doing our best to fix it. Suggestions about reducing the number or size of projects being synced are intended as (a) troubleshooting to attempt to identify the problem and (b) possible workarounds pending a permanent solution. We are not proposi...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

IT WORKED!!!! iOS sync hadn't been working since iOS 13(.x), and I was just able to make it work--here's what I did: 1) I had a bunch of Scrivener projects in the /Dropbox/Apps/Scrivener folder, along with a couple of non-Scrivener documents. I moved all but two projects to another Dropbox folder. I...

Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

By the way, contact Dropbox if you're not happy with the new DoG (Delusions of Grandeur) price increase: they extended my current pricing for a year. I did this through chat. I said I wasn't keen on the new pricing and asked what I could do; and presto, the price extension was offered instantly. I i...

Re: Getting images into Scapple

Seconding Teel's question and comment: I've used Scapple to gather images for a long time, and I'm pretty sure I'd drag and drop them from the finder. In the current version, Scapple behaves as you describe, Teel: only Copy and Paste (from Preview, for instance) allows an image to appear in Scapple....

Re: Organization

David, I'm glad the Masterlist doc may be of use. Again, I don't know who created it. I can see that having some sort of map or filter for Scrivener commands and techniques would be useful (or for any app). I find myself resorting to searching in the Help menu to find that command whose steps I've f...

Re: Organization

I've been intrigued by your question, David, and everyone's thoughts. (Of course I'm playing with Agenda and Ghostnotes now too...) I'm wondering if something like a writing log in a single document might be an idea. I use a research log to track my research explorations so that I have a bit of a tr...

Re: Organizing scapples

I apologize for taking so long to reply! Thank you, AmberV, for your thoughtful reply. I've experimented with a few of these options, and have realized that when I'm scanning/searching multiple Scapple documents, Leap (Ironic Software) works best for my way of thinking. One can view multiple documen...

Re: Juggling notes and written text

I also work with a draft document and various note documents (fiction now; academic work previously). Seconding the ideas here by Philicare and rdale--the bookmarks feature in Scrivener 3 is remarkable. As a longtime Scrivener user, I hadn't realized how bookmarks worked in version 3--full-featured ...

Thank you, Katherine. I hadn't thought of that as a possibility.

And if I want to have a quick overview of several at once, I can use Leap.

Organizing scapples

I use Scapple a lot to brainstorm plot ideas, sketch characters, gather images for a particular setting. I love it. Problem is: I have a bunch of docs on similar aspects of a topic, and I'm wondering how people organize their Scapple docs. (I'm working on a novel.) I've got several Scapple docs in w...

Re: Best principles for brainstorming highly ambiguous and complex project

In Scrivener itself, you could experiment with a combination of keywords, labels, and collections. (I can't help you with organizing keywords because I'm trying to figure out my own mess (!).) A Collection is basically a flexible folder or container. You can create a Collection manually or through a...
