Generated PDF document didn't open on all platforms

Hi,

I am noticing complaints about users, that my generated PDF documents won't open on their computer.

First, I assumed, the font is missing, but then I was thinking that Acrobat must select a similar font.

Is there an option to embed the font or chose one that works anywhere?

Thank you

Re: Compiling Scrivener manual by myself looks different?

Thank you,

I think I should getting it started. Today I also have seen some formatting youtube videos that demonstrate overriding font and some other stuff. And thus it is probably not that important in the beginning.

Compiling Scrivener manual by myself looks different?

Hi, I am actually playing with the downloadable scrivener manual to try that project as a base for my own document. I do this, because it is a fully written technical document for a software and has a basic but nice layout with a well made front matter and toc. But first, several images are missing ...

Re: I am new to this forum and I write software, thus also software manuals

The current Mac Pkg installer tells me, that it could not be installed on that computer. I still use my older Snow Leopard installation for programming and do less frequently change to Yosemite. I'll give it a try, maybe in the next some weeks. Meanwhile I need to find a Font, I probably could use o...

Re: Trying to get Scapple application documentation pdf built myself as learning before going with my own - tex errors

For the font issue I would stick to the urw-garamond for a while. Until I have found a good font that I can actually use on my Snow Leopard. Since the XeLaTeX seems to require a more recent Mac OS X version. Otherwhise I would be happy to get suggested one that is similar, BUT free to use (LGPL) tha...

Re: Trying to get Scapple application documentation pdf built myself as learning before going with my own - tex errors

Ha, I got it. Just trying out TexShop. With that application I was able to typeset the PDF document. Some questions are now arising: How to automate the typesetting without opening the GUI? How to automatically step over the questionmarks in the console, as they mostly seem to be optional? I like to...

Trying to get Scapple application documentation pdf built myself as learning before going with my own - tex errors

Hi, I think I have got all material downloaded to get the Scapple application pdf documentation build by myself. I have downloaded MacTex as suggested. (MacTeX 2016) I have then prepared my folder where I put my generated tex files and the material (sty files and apple key images). After configuring...

Re: I am new to this forum and I write software, thus also software manuals

Edit: I just have to read the project description! Just downloading MacTex and follow the description :P So I wouldn’t exactly recommend the post-processing experience as being anywhere indicative of what a modern streamlined project could be instead. :) For that , the downloadable Scapple manual is...

Re: I am new to this forum and I write software, thus also software manuals

If you create software manuals, I can recommend looking at the source Scrivener project of the scrivener manual itself, there are lots of advanced tricks that can be useful for you. http://literatureandlatte.com/support.php#Scrivener I have tried the manual source project and at least was able to r...

Re: I am new to this forum and I write software, thus also software manuals

Thanks, a real example is of course the application documentation itself :D Also I need to consider using my version management system (currently still CVS). That way, I can keep up the documentation in sync with the project. If the project structure itself is too complex for CVS or Git, what I don'...

Re: I am new to this forum and I write software, thus also software manuals

Thank you, that was a help. I find the sub documents a valuable feature, if I have understood that correctly - they are simple folders. I haven't yet found the collections more usable than adding sub folders in the script folder, in your case - keeping the original structure, it may be the solution ...

I am new to this forum and I write software, thus also software manuals

Hi, I just found this awesome Scrivener and it has the potential to become my new tool fow writing my manuals and video project scripts. Since 2000 I started a project that is more likely running in the niche of software development itself. It is a very specific piece of product and I struggle to ge...
