Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

I agree with mbbntu It has been said many times that Dropbox is a synchronisation service, not a backup service. There is a difference, and it is as well to be aware of it, and to understand it. as for drmajorbob - I'm puzzled what else we'd want from a "backup". 1. A complete image backup...

Re: Windows Users: Do you recommend Scrivener?

I've been using Scrivener 3.0 On windows 10 for a few years. My feelings: 1. It is ready for prime time. Very useful. Would be lost without it. 2. It is not user friendly, not intuitive, and difficult to learn, but well worth the extended effort it will require. 3. The Windows version is not an afte...

Re: Save error on V3 for Windows keeps popping up

Just to help you understand, something is stopping your (Access denied in error message) from saving the file in your own (globa) documents subfolder. So, the question is, what in your system is denying you from saving your stuff in your folder? The most common cause is a cheap (usually free) anti-v...

Re: Windows 3 How do I open existing Scrivner projects

rebmc When I choose open existing project, there are none. When you choose file explorer and go to your data files (usually in your documents folder), do you have any folders with names of your projects? Within those folders, do you have files that end with .scrivx? If so, that is your scrivener fil...

Re: File Shows Up But Won’t Open

1. Where is it stored?
2. What is the size of the actual scrivener folder?
3. How big is the .scrvx file?

If the whole project is not stored locally, have your tried copying it locally?

Have you tried using one of the scrivener backups to see if that will open?

Re: Scrivener not responding to changing Corkboard options

What I use, works fine for me. What exactly doesn't work and what are your trying and can it work? In other words, does the corkboard space have enough room for what you are doing? The ratio refers to the ratio of the individual items. Are cards across on auto? With lots of room, and cards across on...

Re: most of my projects are lost!

It will happen again. The way to make it happen is not to have backups. If you have backups, then it won't happen. Scrivener should be set to make a bunch of backups in case you computer screws up. Then you should backup both the backups and the originals at least once a day to another device like a...

Re: Why the Android Version of Scrivener is Arguably the Most Important Version (and Why it's Number 1 on My Wish List)

Just for general information, I use Joplin to type on my 8" tablet. Joplin is a cross-platform open source software with desktop versions for Mac, Windows and Linux and mobile versions for Android and IOS. It takes notes, has notebooks, syncs using just about anything (I use Dropbox). Structura...

Re: RC17 - "Sync to Folder" seems all messed up

MM but I absolutely don’t want the whole project sync'ing. So what I have done is set up a search collection based on an appropriate status label, OK. I think that may have been the clue I needed. I was syncing everything and my deleted articles was getting restored. I'm only syncing to use ProWriti...

How to delete local sync

I have a problem. How am I supposed to delete articles when I sync to a folder? I'm told that to use a program like ProWriting Aid, I should not let them mess with the Scrivener folder, but instead sync to another local folder and work with that. I write lots of stuff, much of which gets discarded. ...

I agree. This is disconcerting. I posted the same problem a month or two ago.

Outline date sort is alphabetic

When in outline mode, I sort by date, the result is an alpha sort, not a date sort.

Perhaps you could be more specific regarding where in Scrivener it does not work.

DRMAJORBOB :
Your video was great. I hadn't even bothered to look at exactly what Scrivener did. Just responded with find and replace often combined in Windows and not being a problem.

Re: Windows Defender SmartScreen

Stop using Edge and remember that if you get the program from L&L and download from their site or update, it is just MS being MS. Same thing happens regardless of the browser, Steve. Edge is a perfectly good Chromium-based browser for those of us who are plugged into the MS ecosystem and don't ...
