Re: "No response" when searching

"Not Responding" does mean your machine is off doing something. So, you need to figure out what it is doing and what it should be doing and how to fix it. Task manager and Resource monitor are two Windows tools to determine what your computer is doing. Normally I sort in inverse order by c...

Re: Help! Losing data

It backs up though to my computer As a computer consultant, I tell all my clients that a backup to your own computer is not a backup. Furthermore, requiring you to rename files etc. is asking for trouble. My standard recommendations are: 1. buy a $60 or so USB drive and connect to your computer. - ...

Re: Ddrag and drop PDF files from a file manager to an item in the Binder does not work anymore?

I'm posting my situation here regarding PDF files because it fits in, but it could also be in the wish list because that is what it is. The idea is to solve the problem somehow. There are many ways it could be done. Another poster wanted a link in drafts to refer to pdf files. That also should be so...

Re: Ddrag and drop PDF files from a file manager to an item in the Binder does not work anymore?

I have the same problem. I cannot drag some pdf files into my project and then compile to pdf including those added files. Dragging to Research doesn't help me since I can't add the research files to my compile.

Re: Scrivener balky on Windows 10 SP3...why?

I don't think it is Scrivener. My guess is that your laptop is running an antivirus program or indexing or something else that is sucking up your CPU. I haven't used Scrivener long, but have no problem or lags on a normal business Windows 10 machine. There is no reason to believe your laptop is weak...

pdf appendix

I'm doing a presentation and have outlined it and added images etc. I want to add 3 pdf forms to the end of the presentation. I want to compile to pdf. I cannot figure out how to do it. After a couple hours trying to figure it out, I gave up and compiled to pdf and then added the three pages to that...

Re: shortcuts to styles

Thank you. A bit cumbersome, but not bad. Clearly better. I re-defined the header and subhead and body which I'd already defined the way I wanted. I just put an & in front of them. I'm just learning the program and didn't even understand about the & or adding and modifying presets. - Or for ...

shortcuts to styles

In my article writing I use a title style, subhead and body a lot. You have a pull down menu to select the style from a list of about 6. I'd like to be able to switch to a listed style without having to leave the keyboard, grab the mouse, pull down the menu, select sub-head. then hit enter back to t...
