Re: EPUB 3 and EPUB 2

Well to add another point of data to this, the Mac version hasn’t had a visible ePub2 generator for around a year now, and we get very little feedback for wanting one, Maybe the Mac users all use Vellum  It's not a problem for me. I don't compile in Scrivener, and have multiple ways of conver...

Re: Release on Aug 30 confirmed?

I cannot be happy with the beta. It might not be safe and, maybe, I could lose something important. Taking a piece of software and labeling it "Official Release" has absolutely no impact on the functionality of that code. And conversely, a piece of software is not rendered less reliable b...

I've often thought that it's some of the forum posters who are the worst thing about the Scrivener experience.

Re: Scriv3 for Win - Yes another inquiry regarding release date.

You can buy the Windows 1.9 license now, which will let you upgrade to 3 when it is finally released. But there'd be no point because it wouldn't improve the convenience. They don't tend to put license code in the betas, using instead the expiration date mechanism. This ensures two benefits specifi...

Re: Scriv3 for Win - Yes another inquiry regarding release date.

I had a look last year, and it was obvious that it was a very long way from release ready. iirc I thought probably Q3 this year. Now I think it is working well enough for me to use, but still has features to add. I'd usually expect to see those features in a beta before release. I'm happy enough wit...

Re: [LH2754] - unable to minimize windows too large for screen

That's the problem with high DPI combined with the widescreen format. OK for images, good for films and videos but generally poor for productivity and reading text. That's the reason I went out of my way to find 1920x1200 monitors. Only solution I can think of is using the magnifier, It would work, ...

Re: To beta or not to beta for compiling an ebook?

Compiling is what Jutoh does.
Also has a couple of guide books written by Julian Smart.

Or Sigil.

But lots of people just use Google Docs. Or Word.

[NB] 'Lost' index card

How do you locate an index card on a huge freeform corkboard?
Easy to see them if switch to grid, but that doesn't help with the freeform view.

Re: cheap laptop

My recommendation is to try both options (iPad/cheap laptop) out before you decide. Both are likely to work functionally but they will feel very different. Display and keyboard are key factors. Costwise , there are possible extras (cases for both keyboard for the iPad - though you could also use one...

Re: Wake me when version 3.0 for Windows is released

So for most Windows users who need mobile access, development is indeed asymmetric. But that's not the point, even if Windows is receiving the same amount of input as the Mac, it is still behind the curve. A few comments made in the past show that once the Windows v3 offering is stable, it will lik...

Re: Wake me when version 3.0 for Windows is released

Most Mac users us iOS for mobile. Most Windows users use Android. I would like to see a cite from a reliable source of data before agreeing to that. That's going to be heavily region-dependent, and it will likely be dependent on the kinds of users as well (academic vs. fiction, etc.) Gartner statis...

The OP is apparently a troll whose only previous (loong, looong) post is dedicated to explaining why he's given up on Scrivener One post in September and another in December is hardly trolling. Having a similar range of hardware, I understand both the frustration and the choice. I've converted my S...

Re: Any hints on coming 3.0 features...

I'm not currently actively using Scrivener, but I think it is a very good program from a wonderful company with an ethical approach to customers and development. Most writers struggle to make a reasonable income from writing, and the majority of aspiring writers don't have much money either. I'm mos...
