Delete Upon Add

When one enters a file into a Scrivener project, the original file remains. How about a simple check box to have the original file deleted from its present location upon adding it to the file? I find files on the internet and, for me, it is easier to download them to my scrivener folder before impor...

Re: Unbound Manuscript

Thank you all for your replies. I am right now going through the "Take Control" eBook. I'll pay particular attention to the text editing and compiling sections, which I skimmed through on the tutorial because of my prior reading referenced above. One True Writing Program(tm) Apparently, I ...

Re: Unbound Manuscript

kewms: One of the first things I read when researching or opening Scrivener was a warning that Scrivener was not meant to be a word processor. I can't find the advice now. My memory of it was that it was from the Scrivener team itself. So, it was (I believe) from Scrivener itself that I got the idea...

Re: Unbound Manuscript

As RDale suggested, I have been reading Writer Beware, as well as the "Turkey City" lexicon article on the same site. Both are very informative. As I am not reliant upon my writing skills for my livelihood, I doubt I become desperate enough to go to a vanity press. After all, if I can't ge...

Re: Unbound Manuscript

Thank you very much for the reply. As I'm an unpublished author, I was hoping to do my first book without an agent. I have about 7K followers on a web site (not related to my book genre). I've web-published some stories in the past that were well-received. I was hoping to leverage these to develop a...

Unbound Manuscript

I am nearly to the point of finally starting to put words onto paper, and therefore wanted to know the best format for the manuscript. I'm using Scrivener for holding the research and my notes, and probably Word for the text. To do this as efficiently as possible, I started to research different pub...

Re: Deleting original files

Thank you for the prompt reply, Briar Kit. I am not using the files in the final product. They are research and reference for the book.

Best regards,
Don

Re: Marquee Zoom

Thanks for the reply, AmberV. I'm opening the file in photoshop, where I'm also marking locations on it.

I had to change my default viewer program to photoshop, but I wasn't even aware of the external viewer icon. This makes my life a little easier.

Thanks again,
Don

Deleting original files

I have several very large image files that I'm using in my Scrivener project. I looked in the .scriv file, and I can see that these have been renamed as (number).jpg, for instance. (Number) might be 53, for example. Can I delete the original file without losing the .scriv file? I've downloaded from ...

Re: Other programs to use with Scrivener

Thank you for the reply, lunk. What other types of programs did you have in mind? I am still searching the forums here and working on my book. As I find a need or want for another program, I'm sure I'll research that. Edit: Is there a tool (not online/web based) that allows me to do a readability sc...

Other programs to use with Scrivener

I am a new Scrivener user. I am already sold on Scrivener as a great repository for organizing data of different types, and I've started using it for multiple projects not related to writing. It is great for organizing any type of data. I will state that, so far, it appears to be one of the best val...

Re: Using Scrivener to Organize notes on wine

Hi, Marisa! I, too, am new to Scrivener. In fact, I have not yet finished the tutorial. I have not started reading the eBook I bought with the program, but I have started using the program. If you look at my screen name, you might be able to deduce that your post has some secondary interest to me, a...

Marquee Zoom

If you have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Photoshop, when you have an item to view, you can "draw a box around it," and the view will zoom to this level. This function is called "Marquee Zoom" in Adobe Acrobat, but is just called "zoom" in Photoshop. I have a very, very large ...

Re: Novel Outlining Template

Thank you very much, WhaleVomit77! I was able to download it from your original link by doing some address bar editing (which pretty much was your second link when I was done). I am currently working on my first project in Scrivener, and I must say that it is ideal for a variety of uses, not just wr...

Re: Novel Outlining Template

This is my first post. I have just now purchased Scrivener to help me write a novel that I've been developing in my head for several years. It's time to finally sit down at a keyboard and translate from grey matter to text. I have been reading through these forums and came to this post. The link is ...
