Re: By design? Or Bugs? Copy/move issues

Thank you for your response. I will test some more, about focus. Default behaviors are good with me. But i expect consistency. doc to doc is a copy, doc to binder is a move And, being able to change the result (copy/.move) with modifier keys has been available in windows from like forever. Thanks

By design? Or Bugs? Copy/move issues

Using beta 41 Documents: I have two documents open in split screen. I highlight text in one, and drag to the other. It will ONLY COPY. Since the ‘+’ is displayed, I expect to be able to use the shift key to effect a MOVE. Since I cannot MOVE the text, I then click in the title bar of the first docum...

Re: Bug? Unable to fully change active document in split editor mode

Every DEFAULT setting should be OBVIOUS.

A reasonable man would expect, the editor with focus commands the binder.

How is that not reasonable?

---

And, is the currently default setting some kind of mac thing? We want to know.;)

Re: Is the Beta safe for real work?

SAVE IS DESTRUCTIVE. And after you close the program ALL UNDO HISTORY IS GONE. If you had deleted something that you should not have, without a backup, you are shit on a rope. Period! Regular, and separate, backups are the only way to cover you ass. I have Scrivener set to BACKUP with EVERY MANUAL S...

Re: Is the Beta safe for real work?

And, even when gold, I will continue to manually save every few minutes until scrivener is equipped with timed auto-backups. Which is unlikely ever to happen. Why? Because for a large project, it's a performance issue. A backup, by definition, is a complete copy of the entire project. A user in ano...

Re: Is the Beta safe for real work?

Is it safe for me to bring my Scrivener 1.9.16.0 project into the current Beta? I understand that it is probably not possible to go back the other way once I make edits but I will, of course, make a backup before I try it. What I am concerned about is whether the beta is sufficiently stable that I ...

Re: Where does Scapple save your files?

This may sound like a silly question, but where on your hard drive does Scapple actually save your files? It saves the file in the place you first saved it to. This means IT OVERWRITES, and thereby deletes, the previous "version" of the file. This is destructive. There are NO backups. And...

Re: Remove Auto-Save / or make it an option

I agree. This makes the program not reliable. And for me, not usuable. I was informed that the apple os has a system wide backup process. I am surprised scapple was released on windows without proper file management. I was hoping to use scapple to replace a couple of other programs. BUT::::: without...

How can a key mapping be a deep issue? That implies that changing any key mapping changes will not work.

Makes no sense to me. Prolly a hold-over from the mac stuff.

This is still not working correctly

I have reversed the keymaps for paste. Crtl-v is set to match syle.

Ctrl-V pastes. It does not match style.

Edit ctrl-v does match style.

"Reopen projects that were open on quit" is not working correctly ??

I am only testing with one project. I have Options-Startup: "Reopen projects that were open on quit" checked. 1: I dbl-click the scrivener desktop shortcut and the templates dialog is opened, NOT the closed project. 2: I have a link on the desktop to the file i use for daily notes. I dbl-c...

Re: Thank you developers for all you are doing for a 1 time purchase price!

Keith has explicitly said that Scrivener is deliberately priced to make sure it's within reach of beginning writers, students, and others who may not have a lot of resources to throw at it. Katherine I understand this. But, there are many of us who can and should pay much more. One size does not fi...

Re: Complaining about Scrivener’s “slow” progress is a reflection of ignorance, not knowledge.

Review the Mac scriv 3 history of updates. Even though, as we have been told, that the Mac is "easier" to develop software like scriv, the updates are still addressing "bugs." the first update was huge. And, as it has been explain, windows does not have many of the common librari...

Re: Complaining about Scrivener’s “slow” progress is a reflection of ignorance, not knowledge.

Antagonistic post but I’ll bite. Cakewalk has gone through at least 3 owners and that is bound to impact its development processes True. And it is still one of the most advanced. And continuing. My point: it is complicated software that is still being fixed, even with nearly monthly updates after a...
