Re: annotation format--what did I do?

I've done a bit more experimenting to try to isolate the problem, and this is what I've concluded: the unwanted "black annotations" appear when I am using a system-wide text style selected from the ruler. If I start a completely new project and do not use that style (instead using Scrivene...

Re: annotation format--what did I do?

Ah! In testing this a bit further I also experienced what Carradee described. Started with a completely new project. Annotations were gray. Closed, renamed, and re-opened project. New annotations were red. This happily persisted across several closings and reopenings. Then I moused over one of my ex...

Re: annotation format--what did I do?

What a slippery problem. Philip, in trying to reproduce your "fix" I have the following experience: 1) Open project. Current annotations are gray. A new annotation in an existing document, however, is RED. 2) Create new document called "Test" in Draft folder. New annotations in t...

Re: annotation format--what did I do?

Greetings - I'm having a related (identical?) problem. Even when I create an entirely new Scrivener project (not involving any imported files), annotations are black rather than red. I can change the colo(u)r of a particular annotation to red using Text > Font > Show Colors, but subsequent annotatio...

Backup Project to . . . doesn't work

When I select File > Backup Project To . . . nothing happens, and the following error (two lines) appears in console.log: 2007-07-27 22:21:16.996 Scrivener[12126] *** -[NSCFString stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:withString:]: selector not recognized [self = 0x6548ef0] 2007-07-27 22:21:17.001 Sc...

Session target doesn't increment when Editing Scrivenings?

When Editing Scrivenings, the Draft Target field in the Project Targets pane updates when I add new words, but the Session Target field does not. The Session Target field only updates when I am editing a single document.

Are others seeing this behavior?

I wonder if, in the long run (2.x+), Scrivener links might be pressed into service here. One could have a Notes folder in the binder and you could insert links to documents inside it in your main text as (foot|end)note holders. It might even be possible to display the linked documents inline, as foo...

Multiple index cards affect alternate editor immediately?

When I have both editing panes open, several index cards visible in the left editor, and View > Selection Affects Alternate Editor is checked, selecting a single index card causes that document to immediately appear in the right editor. But selecting multiple index cards doesn't immediately open an ...

Tripper - You can get close to this using Page Setup and then Print. Go to File > Page Setup . . ., choose the Scrivener pane, then choose the "Text Options" tab. Check "Print title" and "Print synopsis" and uncheck the rest. Then select the items in the binder you want...

@Ahab - oh, indeed. I'm an editor myself and Word is the lingua franca of our field. (Or something stronger . . . more like Latin in the church in the Middle Ages . . . one is inconceivable without the other.) But I am so truly, truly glad to be set free from Word for my own writing. It hurts every ...

That's pretty nasty looking. I agree, though, that this feature would be terrific to have for those of us who work with editors who are locked into Word. And even for those who are not, some sort of back-and-forth annotation capability is a must for serious collaboration. I'm finishing a draft of a ...

As for the missing checkmark, that is a good point. That should probably be there. I notice the drop-down in the Inspector has one. Thanks, Amber. I notice that the same thing is true in outline view: the contextual submenu doesn't have a checkmark. Keith, can we have checkmarks? This seems to be t...

I was a columnist in almost exactly your situation for about five years (same amount of self-doubt, half the word count). I would definitely put all the columns (and maybe other writing for the same magazine) in one Scrivener project. The Draft folder would have each column named by issue; outside t...
