Re: Scrivener as Dedicated Research Database

I sift through so much swiftly decaying information each day it's wonderful to find a thread like this. :)

The latest betas (5.9.2) incorporate Safari 4's version of webkit. Much, much faster than earlier 5.x releases.

Me too. A half price deal combined with all the positive experiences I've read over the years were the right trigger for me... :)

Re:

I might use Safari more if I could figure a way to display my bookmarks in a column pane to the left of the main browser window. Take a look at Saft. It's a Safari plug-in that adds a customizable sidebar. Saft also adds the ability to reopen pages/tabs that were open when you quit Safari, as well ...

I send Mac MS Office files to Windows users all the time without checking the "compatibility" checkbox. Just attach and go. Like you, I've had more issues "with" the feature than "without". I stopped using the feature back in Tiger when Windows Office users complained t...

Thanks for the tip :) I just tried the IP address and have the same problem - after I enter my username and password, it cannot connect. I have a nasty feeling there is something in the XP setup on the Windows machine, but I'm so rusty on Windows these days, i dread to start digging! I assume the X...

Are you using the machine name or the IP address when you try to connect? I've found using the IP address is more reliable in mixed environments.

My parents live about 45 miles north of Jackson, TN (home of Union University). They spent some fearful moments in the inner bathroom (their "safe" place) during a couple of tornado alarms in their small town, but were otherwise unharmed. They got a lot of wind, sound, and fury, but no sub...

The song at the end is viral. It's embedded itself into my mind. I find my mind plays back pieces of the song at the oddest times and places. "Cake" evokes completely new imagery. :)

I've also heard great things about Interarchy. It's a different take on FTP: basically, it tries really hard to make the server look as much like a finder window as possible. And I can dig that. I'm all for "good interface" being as dependent upon the user as it is upon the program. I end...

Dear Kastorff, I do not imply that Scrivener has been created with money as its sole motivation. And as I have tried to explain: I love the software and I have also paid for my copy. Kastorff, chill out, I do not attack on this holy community of L&L, or KB or anybody for that matter. I asked a ...
