Re: question about TotallyWrite

Hi there, I, too, move through the motions and employ OmniOutliner before going into Scrivener-mode. Probably an old habit hard to shake off. I just like to lay down my hand-written notes in OO, refining them, before adapting them to the binder. Actually, my workflow looks pretty similar to Sean Cof...

Re: 7 full days left... who's still in?

I’m out. Not due to Scrivener, no way. But for some weird reason, my sister-in-law decided that November just was the month where she had to, hmm, “communicate” the most … like, “do you still have some butter left?” or “I bought this table, could you assemble it?” and the like … Bummer. :( Cheers, -...

Re: Is Everybody Ready?

Third NaNo for me, but the first using Scrivener. Me likes!

But somehow, I’m not as “fast” as I used to be. About 5,000 words in four days … Ouch. In 2006, I wrote as much a day. :D

Blather on!

Cheers,

Re: Nisus Writer Pro issue

Hi there, I see you already posted the question in the Nisus forums, so my first line of help is out of the window. Oh, well. ;) I agree with Martin that it might possibly be a corrupt font you used. Clear the font caches (using, say, FontExplorerX) and / or reinstall the font in question. That shou...

Re: question about TotallyWrite

Mornin’ y’all! You may be right that I appear a bit short-sighted here. It’s just that I don’t feel comfortable with the idea that a piece of software should do this kind of work for me. Hence the scepticism. I far more prefer the way Lord Lightning suggests: Read a book about that sort of thing. Or...

Re: question about TotallyWrite

I have to admit I am VERY sceptical about TotallyWrite, STC, Contour etc.. I don’t know, perhaps I’m an idealist who believes modern authors should try to find modern approaches to story telling, rather than rehashing Archetypes and plot structures that have sold Hollywood movies … I just don’t know...

Re: Subversion - problems due to multi-files?

Hi there, commit just checks in edits to data already contained in the svn repo. That is, if you create a new document in the binder (or possibly split one into many), svn can’t update the files as they’re not in the repository yet. You’ll need to do an add first. Alas, I have no idea how you’d pull...

Re: It's no use, we'll just get ripped off

I just wanted to chip in that I completely agree with Amber’s (very eloquent) posting above. Funny how things go … for the past week or so, I have had half-formed thoughts and nagging feelings about “traditional” publishing and the future of other forms of publication, and now I stumble over this th...

Re: Poll: What is your favorite website creation tool?

Hi there, as I am shopping for a new web dev environment right now, this thread is much appreciated. Thanks! :) In my Mac past, I hardly did any web stuff at all. Updating my home page once every three months or something … So I was quite happy with the Smultron / Cyberduck combo. And cursed my weak...

Re: New poll: What's your favorite word processor?

Hi Jeff, Hi Sascha, What do you mean by Papyrus's clipboard and 'mummify' function? Jeff Papyrus has a clipboard next to the text window where you can drag text snippets to, for future use and the like. Or put down notes. http://www.papyrus.de/pap_pics/Mac08_snap.png (the thingy on the right.) Also,...

Re: New poll: What's your favorite word processor?

Hi there, I voted for Nisus, Mellel and OpenOffice. Perhaps I should explain why … Because, well, I mostly use Nisus. :D So that’s that covered. When working with Scrivener, I use Nisus to put the manuscript in shape for the editors and customers. Mostly because I am just comfortable with its way of...

Scrivener for Copy Writers

Hi there, this is my first post here on the forums, and I was wondering where to put it. Well, I figured “Sascha, before you go on requesting all sorts of unnecessary features, tell people about yourself and what you use Scrivener for.” So, yeah, here it is. I’m a writer of novels and short-stories....
