Re: Cross -platform Compatibility

Is there a particular reason you don't want to just use the inbuilt syncing method via Dropbox?

Re: Any alternative to manual sync?

I've turned on the "Sync Projects on Close" option. So the sync happens as soon as I return to the projects list. Not quite as automatic as OP asked for, but it means I never have to hit the sync button on iOS as long as I keep in the habit of returning to the projects list. Using this opt...

Re: Cross -platform Compatibility

Follow the instructions to set up sync between OS X and iOS and you will be good to go. There's been lots of discussion here about it.

Re: Where are the files, man?

It says quite clearly ion my iPad : "drag projects from Dropbox" If there is no dragging why does it say to drag? Where and when does it tell you to drag? As per my previous confession, I forgot about tha ability to drag projects between Dropbox and local storage in iOS. But from what I u...

Re: Where are the files, man?

Oh yeah, the dragging between dropbox and locally stored on iOS. When I said "no dragging", I forgot about that.

Re: Where are the files, man?

I've done all of this. Now when I go to "drag projects from Dropbox" theres nothing to drag, it just asks me to make a new project. Shouldn't my project that I've placed in the Dropbox/Apps/Scrivener folder be draggable? There's no dragging in the iOS app. Have you tapped the sync icon in...

Re: Tips on Syncing iOS with Desktop Scrivener

Can you create a new project in the iOS version (in dropbox) and access it on the desktop?

Also, the previous suggestion about a new thread was a useful one - it will help other people see the problem and contribute suggestions if they know how to overcome it.

Re: Tips on Syncing iOS with Desktop Scrivener

I'm losing the will to live. I have followed the instructions in the tutorial. I have replicated what has been suggested here. I keep getting: "Could not complete Dropbox operation. Error 4. The file doesn't exist. (The file doesn't exist)." I know it exists because I have been using it o...

Re: Dropbox zips everything and Scrivener doesn't see zipped files

Don't upload anything to Dropbox. It sounds to me like that is what your are doing. When you install dropbox on your mac it creates a "dropbox" folder that you can see in finder just like your "documents" folder. Save your Scrivener projects in dropbox/apps/scrivener I apologise ...

Re: Where are the files, man?

No! If you want to work on different computers you can't have the files local on one of them. How do you think the second computer could read the hard drive on the first computer? Understood. But I am talking about the difference between the main/original as primary versus a working copy. having yo...

Re: Where are the files, man?

Your dropbox folder is local to your mac. It just also syncs.

Re: Syncing between Mac & iOS

It really should be based on whatever the last device I've used. If the last device is iOS, then on dropbox, the file should replace the file that's there with the file I recently edited or my iOS device. Ditto, for the desktop app and dropbox integration. It doesn't seem to be doing that I'm afrai...

Re: Will Not Sync With Dropbox

So my understanding is that Dropbox app on iOS works ok outside of Scrivener. i.e., you can browse and open files there, and you can change things on the desktop app that are reflected on iOS and the other way around. But when you try to setup Scrivener iOS to sync to dropbox you get an error?
