Re: Writing Keyboards

I've been writing for seven months, a total of 508,349 characters on a Logitech K800 keyboard https://www.logitech.com/en-ca/product/wireless-illuminated-keyboard-k800 . That's around 300 keypresses per finger per day. Now I'm getting a painful sensation in my fingertips with every keypress. The key...

Re: What Reading Voice Do You Use?

It took a while, but I finally got a quote from http://www.frontiercomputing.ca. The price is $349 plus $20 (Canadian dollars) for shipping for Infovox4.

Re: How can I remove incorrect words from one of Scrivener's spell check dictionaries?

Hi merusal, I love the automatic corrections as you type, but the English corrections seem to have the same problem you have. A correction of friend becomes Friend , sweet becomes Sweet , etc. The English file is called en-only.rws. I repaired the file using a binary editor (Hex Editor Neo) which wa...

Re: French smart quotes not supported?

Hi Matthius, It's not really a bug because the substitution cannot be made until the analyser has determined that the characters are in the substitution list. For example, I use DD for Doyle, DDD for Doyle's mom, and DDDD for Doyle's dad. This is an extreme example, but obviously, you wouldn't want ...

Re: Smart quotes replace apostrophes

You could use a substitution again. Suppose that you never use two single quote Guillemets together. Set up a substitution in Corrections so that two single Guillemets turn into a single quote. When you use the two single Guillemets together, a single quote will be substituted.

Re: Smart quotes replace apostrophes

Hi Dienes,

Press F12 to go to options.

Click on Corrections

To the right of the check box 'Use Smart Quotes' are two little boxes. In the left select the Guillemets you want for the double quote, and on the right select the response you want for single quotes, which would be 'abc' .

Re: French smart quotes not supported?

Here is a solution, but it has a little bug. First, type something with French quotes. Use Ctrl C to copy the opening quote. Press F12 to go to options. Go to Corrections. Go to edit Substitutions. Click + to start a new Substitution. Use Ctrl V to put the opening quote in the first panel Use Ctrl V...

Re: PROJECT SETTINGS>EDITOR>AUTO-COMPLETE LIST

Hi Conrad, I use letter combinations for characters' names, but I use the Corrections facility under Options. I'm using Windows, so your system might be different. Under Corrections, click on Edit Substitutions. A new window will pop up where you can add your letter combinations that will be substit...

Hi Anthony,

You can also right-click on the word for which you'd like some synonyms and go to Related Words on the pop-up menu.

Re: A little help please

Hi Taz,

Regarding the cursor width, press F12 to get the Options screen, go down to Editor, click on Use block insertion point, and then set the width of the cursor. I tried various widths and finally settled on 3 pixels.

Re: Keeping my Place When Switching to Full-Screen View

Yes, it is annoying. If you click on the place in the editor where you want the full-screen to be positioned, the clicked-on place will be at the center of the screen (if you are using typewriter mode). Clicking on the full-screen place will position the editor so that that place is at the bottom of...

Success! I downloaded a binary editor (Hex Editor Neo) and made some corrections. Works perfectly.

Editing en-only.rws

Spelling correction as you type is great, except that some of the corrections could use editing. In exploring the program files, I found en-only.rws, which seems to be the corrections file. Fortunately, I made a backup of it before trying to edit it, which caused Scrivener not to load. I used Notepa...

Re: Fullscreen Font Color Issue when Syncing with iOS

Hi mordac21, There was a thread, http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=36132 recently, that discussed full-screen colours. The problem there was that, in Windows 1.9.6, the text colour was stuck at black. How do you manage to get green for your full-screen text colour? Eric

Re: Full-screen custom colors

The control is in Tools->Options->Appearance->Full Screen. Double-click on FullScreen. I'm using Win 1.9.6. The sheet colour is adjustable via Page, but the Text remains black no matter what colour it is set to.
