Re: Word count in Drafts for one book in a series?

Well, I guess this answers the question I had as well. Rats. I'll have to keep subtracting the word count from book one when I'm on my ipad. Or you could just put the prev book(s) in separate top-level folders outside the Drafts folder as I suggested to the OP! Really don't understand why this is n...

Re: Word count in Drafts for one book in a series?

Well, I guess this answers the question I had as well. Rats. I'll have to keep subtracting the word count from book one when I'm on my ipad. Thankfully that isn't too hard since book one is 112k. Of course, it could be a bit more problematic when I finish book two and move onto book three, math is n...

Re: Page Count Confusion

Thanks for the reply Katherine! I figured it was to do with all those factors. Just being a total newbie to all this, I just didn't know what page count I should give the cover artist since they were so wildly different.... lmao. I know it's not the programs fault but me not understanding how to get...

Page Count Confusion

This is in the realm of a really dumb question but here goes. Trying to work out the page count of my book has me really confused. I have my ebook cover already but want to get a cover done for a paperback as well. One of the required bits of information is the page count. Depending on which format ...

File Set Up

I wasn't quite sure where to put this one since it's not really an issue about using Scrivener, other than advice on how you all set up. My apologies if it is in the wrong place. That said, since I'm new to all of this, self-publishing in the first half of 2018 (depending on how horrified my beta re...

Re: Compile is driving me nuts

So in the nature of feedback on my frustration with compile - persistence pays off it seems. I managed to get both ePub and PDF versions to my beta readers. Woohoo, Scrivener (I’m not silly enough to think it was my abilities at play here!) Of interest feedback from one of my beta readers was that t...

Re: Compile is driving me nuts

Thanks for the reply Brookter. I think I'm getting somewhere. I was forgetting to select the 'format' for the different sections, or selecting the wrong ones, so it was kinda messed up lol. - and it's not always intuitive, at least to me when looking at them what the resulting output is going to be ...

Re: Compile is driving me nuts

ok, I think I might be getting somewhere.... maybe... kinda... 25 compiles later (there is an advantage to sitting in an airport lounge with nothing better to do).... touch wood... I'm playing with the paperback format... I have a space between my paragraphs, little stars in between the 'sections' i...

Compile is driving me nuts

I've been playing around with the compile settings since I have to compile this coming week to send out to my beta readers. I will say it is easier than Scriv 2...... I'd totally given in on that.... but I figured Scriv 3 looks so much easier..... I'm obviously an idiot... it's driving me totally nu...

Word Count - Novel with Parts Template

So, I'm using the Novel with Parts Template for my epic fantasy series, although not quite as intended. I'm using the 'parts' as the individual books in the series. Book 1 is ready for me to send out to my beta readers next week. While that is going on, I'm going to start on Book 2. I'd obviously li...

Re: Urgent: Scrivener on iOS crashes on Dropbox sync

Thanks JimRac, that has worked. Not sure I want to try and use it on my iPad until I get home though so I’m working off my laptop. So grateful I brough it with me. My prime reason for extending my stay at the resort I’m at was to get on top of my book, I’m a little behind.... for some strange reason...

Re: Scriv 3 - Spell check

Thank you! Doesn’t really make sense to me that I can have everything checked in the global settings and it doesn’t work until I check it in general settings but hey, it works! Woohoo! Oh and I write Fantasy, you are correct it does pick up all kinds of things that are intentional as well but I stil...

Scriv 3 - Spell check

Ok so I’m obviously an idiot but I can’t work out how to get the spell check to actually function other than manually starting a spell check with that horrible box thing. Which I inexplicably hate. In Scriv 2 it used to just put that wavy little red line under typo’s etc, I could choose to fix it ri...
