Re: Footnote Codes

Thanks - I've figured it out now. I was pasting the code directly into a page on scrivener. When I do the same in a textedit document and import it it works. The final word before the footnote was in a grey box - can this be adjusted to include whole passages somehow? And if so, do you know whether ...

Re: Footnote Codes

Thanks Amber - I want to work in Scrivener so this solution is ideal. However, although the footnote is applied, instead of just putting a number on the page (or the footnote itself in a grey bubble like it used to) it has "(Unnattached Footnote)" in the grey bubble. It shows up like this ...

Footnote Codes

I'm trying to find a way to parse footnotes out of a document. I've seen something like this before on the forums, but for the life of me I cannot think of what the appropriate terms would be. I'm editing together memoirs for my grandfather, using bits and pieces from letters, interview, newspaper r...

Re: Convert Searchable Image PDF to html?

Thanks Jaysen, That may be the way to go. I know no CSS Goddess, but I have a GUI based website programme which I think I can trick into believing portions of the image have incredibly long punctuated titles. :) And your idea of the separate page with text could be just the trick, with a link back t...

Re: Convert Searchable Image PDF to html?

I have seen something like that, with the same sort of similar layout but totally different look that I mentioned before - but I'd like someone on my actual page to be able to select and copy if they want. I think with the google approach, you can click to go to the original page, but once you navig...

Re: Convert Searchable Image PDF to html?

I had a feeling that might be the case. Is there some way that you can put hidden machine readable text on the image? Would it be possible to hide a text file of the ocred content so that search engines can read it and at least associate it with the correct page as an image? If it doesn't look neat ...

Convert Searchable Image PDF to html?

Does anyone know of a simple way to convert a searchable PDF + text to a webpage without any visible differences? My Great Aunt made a scrapbook of family history in the 60s and I have been scanning it with a view to making an annotated version of it - ocr on her typewritten notes, updated with link...

Re: Please help: Best organization, note taking apps for Tiger?

If you'd like some expert advice on what your old mac is capable of, have a look at lowendmac.com, or ask someone on their boards. The whole premise of the site is that of extending the life of your mac. I can't remember exactly what or where I found the impetus to go for Leopard on my iBook, but I'...

Re: Please help: Best organization, note taking apps for Tiger?

I have a very similar aged Mac to you - 2004 G4 ibook, 1.25GHZ processsor, and only 750 MB RAM. I'm running 10.5.7 now, and of course it struggles at times, but I can still use photoshop and indesign quite happily on it, sometimes both at once. I'm trying out the Devonthink 2.0 Beta at the moment an...

Re: Paralysed by book of advice for authors

was always under the impression that the idea of every word advancing plot or character was more of a necessary evil in the short story format, or in film scripts, than in novels. I have always loved the flesh on stories, and would think it a sad day for novel writing if every author followed what I...

Re: Tinderbox and Scrivener and Family History

Hi Druid, Thanks for your reply. I actually got stuck into family history through using Reunion to track the Welsh Genealogy of the characters in my book (stilll in progress) about subroman Britain. It is incredibly effective, but I find when you don't really know how someone is connected, you can e...

Tinderbox and Scrivener and Family History

Hi all, I've been reading a lot about Tinderbox on the forums, and from what I've seen on the website it could be just what I need, but before I try to learn scripting and programming and whatnot, I wonder if anyone could tell me whether the following is possible with Tinderbox and Scrivener: I am d...

Re: Newbie Question: Scrivener & Zotero

I'm sorry I can't help you with your question - but I'm sure someone here can.

I'm just replying to bump your question up the list - it was most likely lost in the welter of post update messages.

Cheers,

Lewis

Re: UPDATED: Scrivener 1.5 beta 6 now available

Hi Keith, I haven't managed to replicate the image hang, but the duplicate problem occurs in a new project - though intermitantly. I opened a new project, dragged my hand across the keyboard to input something, then clicked on the binder item to bring it into focus. After that I pressed apple-D to D...

Re: UPDATED: Scrivener 1.5 beta 6 now available

Hi Keith, I've just run into a couple of problems in the latest Beta. First time I've had trouble with any version of Scrivener (including Betas) in two years or so - i guess it shows how solid Scrivener truly is. I dragged the title of one binder item to make a link in another. the little plus symb...
