Re: All Book Images Gone--Dropbox Symlink Problem?

yeah unless there’s a really good reason to keep the files external rather than just keeping them in the project, this seems like it’s adding unnecessary fragility

Re: Keep project on iPad with separate backup?

Or if you have an old laptop around, use iTunes to sync the files, which requires no internet access.

Re: Do you prefer Scrivener for iOS or Ulysses???

what else does Ulysses have that Scrivener doesn’t — and should? Basic automation capabilities - creating new documents, retrieving content & links, etc. As requested for Scrivener ca. 2007. https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1921 and nine years later https://www.literatur...

Re: Do you prefer Scrivener for iOS or Ulysses???

I use Ulysses as a note repository, with about 1.2 million words and still blazing fast search and iCloud sync, and a global keyword system. Document creation and tagging can be handled through a URL scheme that works the same on iOS and MacOS. I rarely write documents of more than a few paragraphs ...

Re: Viewing Skim annotations within Scrivener

I’ve been using Skim since 2005 but I can’t imagine it being a priority for anyone until there’s an iOS solution for viewing Skim annotations. It predates native PDF annotation on the Mac, and has a lot more capabilities, but the constant need to import/export annotations going to/from iOS is burden...

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

The other problem KB faces is the bugaboo of backwards compatibility with earlier versions of iOS. As of now, iOS Scrivener is compatible back to iOS 9. This is an important point. In my informal observations, Scrivener users are much more concerned than most with maintaining backward compatibility...

Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

Ignore the haters.

iOS 13 and Catalina will move file transfer out of iTunes into the Finder. This should be adequate for many users if they don’t like Dropbox.

Re: nvALT replacement?

This is such a great idea. I used Ulysses even before Scriv, and while I like a lot of things in it, it never really worked well for me for bigger projects. Meanwhile I have been looking for a good notes app for what feels a very long time, and never occurred to me that Ulysses could do the trick. ...

Re: nvALT replacement?

It requires rtf import/export conversion but I’ve been happily using Ulysses as a NVAlt replacement for the past three years. I’m not fond of its organizational structure for actual writing - Scrivener is much better imho - but it works great for a notes repository. I have 1.1 million words and sear...

Re: What does iOS 13 mean for Scrivener iOS and iCloud Sync?

Well I stand by my earlier post - that much is certain.

At this (early) point, the early adopters on MacRumors are saying Scrivener doesn’t run on the Catalina developer beta so there will no doubt be more pressing things going on, too.
