Re: Keep research PDFs in original place on import?

I’ve grappled with this over the years and always end up keeping my PDFs and other research materials outside Scrivener. For academic writing it’s very rare that you'd use a document for only one project & it makes more sense to manage i the lit. with bibliographic software.

Re: Using Scrivener with Zotero: adding sources to "Research" and keeping synced with Zotero (and other S/Z workflow tip

What do you want to do? Add the PDFs of articles? Add the citations? Unfortunately neither Scrivener nor Zotero offer any real automation capability, which makes syncing a challenge. I think of Scrivener as a tool for developing documents, not note taking -- the binder format is really oriented towa...

Re: Confusion on Scriv 3 resolving conflicts

Thanks - that was really helpful. I was able to narrow it down from 100 to 2 that needed to be checked. But I wonder if there wouldn't be some way in the Scrivener 3 conversion / conflict management process to preserve the info (i.e. the corresponding numbered filename from the Scrivener 2 project) ...

Re: Confusion on Scriv 3 resolving conflicts

Is there any way to tell which of the original / existing files the conflicted files conflict with? I have 100 in a project that I believe was fine until I opened it with Scrivener 3. Looking at the package contents directly, I haven't been able to locate the files. I really don't want to check 100 ...

Re: Making Scrivener look more like Ulysses

Also, you can use Better Touch Tool to set up swiping to hide and show UI elements. I think that's one of the best (albeit non-visual) elements of Ulysses.

Re: Keywords in iOS version

I’d like to see this too. For note taking / reference / collecting odd scraps etc. a keyword (I.e. tag) based organization has a lot of advantages over fixed folder hierarchies. Re UI keyword selection and viewing. could just come in as a sliding panel, replacing the binder. The option to create sma...

Re: Scrivener 3 Themes

Here's a preliminary dark mode . Darker.stheme.zip I ran into some issues.... a lot of elements (Search Results, Outliner, among others) couldn't be set to have a black background b/c the text was fixed as black (or dark grey). Also the buttons at the bottom of the Binder are invisible (though still...

Re: Style indicator?

Thanks Keith I get that point. But given that “finishing” software like Nisus, Word, Pages expects a Normal/Body style, it seems Mark’s approach will be necessary for many users.

Re: Ulysses ** Breaking News **

I have nearly 600,000 words in Ulysses and its search is lightning fast on Mac and iOS. Well worth a couple bucks a month at this point for me.

Re: Style indicator?

Just to clarify - Mark - since I also use Nisus - you create a new Normal style in Scrivener prior to compile, correct? Then it’s available in Nisus?

Whatever you say about the Mac icon, the new iOS icon is just beautiful. Everything else on my iPad looks cheap and shabby by comparison.

Re: University/College Course Template

From the faculty side, here is the template I use for creating syllabi:

IMHO Scrivener can’t be beat for going from brainstorming possible readings and assignments to putting together a finished syllabus.

I had the same issue - 1.2 said it was the latest version when I checked, but I was able to download and run 1.3 from the L&L site just fine.

Why is it still so hard to add keywords?

I'm frustrated to see that Scrivener 3 still requires the user to click and drag in order to add keywords, or switch back and forth between keyboard and mouse. Could we get 1) a keyboard shortcut (and/or a menu item that we could access via a keyboard shortcut or other automation) to add a keyword? ...
