Re: Working from my new MacBook Pro M1 with Big Sur

Me too. I upgraded from a late 2016 MPB and now that I feel the keyboard I can't believe I waited this long.

Re: Where do people store their PhD research pdfs and notes?

I’d concur - let your reference management software be the canonical location for a text, and link all your PDFs and notes from there. It will pay off in the long term.

Re: Scrivener should become subscription

Scrivener is deliberately opinionated in its design, has always been so

And yet it also has a crazy huge set of customizable preferences.

Re: Should I upgrade to MacOS Catalina?

I also waited until last month to upgrade to Catalina on my 2016 MPB. It’s been fine.

Re: What are the best tools for annotating and then extracting notes from PDFs for academic writing

Skim is great if you’re primarily working on a Mac as it uses its own annotations that predate native support for PDF annotations on Mac OS X. I’ve used it since 2005 or so. There’s a command line tool and robust AppleScript support to automate note conversion, extracting of notes, etc. Lately I’ve ...

Re: Coming changes at Apple's processor architecture for Macs

No doubt it will work eventually- from macrumors forums it seems it has been uneven to date. I’m tempted to install the first public beta (even though I just installed Catalina this morning....) but I do need Dropbox.

Re: Please finally add iCloud Sync

I’ve been using multiple macs while teaching online this quarter, and began experimenting with iCloud Files as a Dropbox replacement, since I’d just updated iCloud storage for photos and have a lot of excess capacity . Unfortunately there have been a few incidents where syncing didn’t happen for no ...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

If you look at the release notes for 13.3.1 it's just a bunch of small specific bug fixes, nothing that suggests it would fix this issue.

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

How old is your iPad? Mine is from 2017 and syncs fine with iOS 13. My iPhone is a current model and doesn’t sync one project. If you’re not using a brand new device with OS 13 you should be fine.

Re: How Does Scrivener Look on iPhone 11 Pro / iPhone 11 Pro Max ?

It looks great on my 11 pro max, but not all projects sync, including those that did so just fine on iphone 7. This is a known issue but proving to be very hard to isolate and fix.

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

This is my first post in this thread, and I'm just writing into to politely express my frustration not just with the syncing issue, but with the tone of the response from L&L. I've been a user of Scrivener since nearly the beginning and have turned over a dozen other people on to it. It's an am...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

Hmmm....in my case & I think some others in this thread, the projects that crash actually originated in Scrivener 2 or 1. What happens if you use the Import -> Scrivener project command to import the converted project into a new, blank, Scrivener 3 project? It shouldn't matter. But this address...

kcward wrote:With 20 pages of folks reporting issues, you can't find a reproduction case? Sorry, neither of these excuses holds water.

Have you isolated and submitted the project that is crashing for you? 20 pages of people complaining are no help if they don’t try to solve the problem.
