Re: Scrivener Won't Start

SOLVED!!!

With hours of rebooting, reinstalling and jiggery-pokery, I've manged to get Scrivener to open! Woo hoo!

And, again, with a fiddle or two, I re-applied the Serial Number and I THINK I'm back to normal.

Goodness me! What a weekend!

Re: Scrivener Won't Start

I can't start Scrivener now, so re-entering the Licence code is not a solution for me.

I re-downloaded the Windows program and re-installed it but still no luck. :-(

What's going on?

Why won't Scrivener run?

This is VERY worrying and frustrating. I need to get on with my work but I can't.

Scrivener Won't Start

I bought Scrivener some years ago and it has been at least a year since I last used it but I have now received a commission to write again. I started Scrivener up this morning and it said that I had an unlicensed copy which is not true. It also said I needed to upgrade it, so I did. Now it won't sta...

Re: Compile Question

Thank you Briar. Perfect.

And due to Scrivener's brilliant MOVE RIGHT instruction to selected chapters, all done in a jiffy!

Thanks so much.

Re: Where are the template files stored?

Hi,

My template files are stored in:

C:\Users\James\OneDrive\Documents\Scrivener

and my backups are stored in:

C:\Users\James\AppData\Local\Scrivener\Scrivener\Backups

Does that help?

Save Button on Main Toolbar

Can we have a Save button on the Main Toolbar?

OR

Can we have the facility to add it if we wish?

Thanks.

Re: Word Count Questions

Dear Briar,

You have explained everything perfectly and, yes, it is as you say in the Windows version too.

I am delighted.

And I am delighted too that, using your clear instructions, my novel word count is, so far, conforming to my proposed outline.

Yippee!!

Briar Kit wrote:Is that incorrect?

It's not incorrect, Briar, but I can't think it does anything useful - or I'm completely misunderstanding what it is supposed to do.

Do you have any comments about my word count questions?

Word Count Questions

If you are trying to follow a "Three Act" type Structure for your novel, word counts at various stages are really important but I'm having great difficulty with this in Scrivener. In the Outliner, what is the difference between the Word Count and Total Word Count columns? Why doesn't the O...

Re: Line Spacing Problem

Thank you so much.

I didn't do what you suggested but your reply gave me an idea - it reminded me of something I saw in the manual.

Pointed to:

Documents => Convert and clicked on Formatting To Default Text Style...

and it worked!

Thank you :-)

Warmest regards
James

Line Spacing Problem

I have been happily writing my novel in the following line spacing: xcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxc xcxcxcxcxcxcxxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcx. "Speak," he said. cxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxc xcxcxcx...

Re: Programming Language

Thanks guys. Interesting. Of course the essential thing in a good application is design, including database design. This is independent from the actual language used. When I wrote apps, they were for Windows desktop, I never worked multi-platform. I wonder whether they used a high level application ...

Programming Language

As an ex-programmer myself, I am impressed how well thought out and user-friendly Scrivener is.

Purely out of fascination, does anyone know what language Scrivener is written in?

Warmest regards
James
