Re: is scrivener for ipad worth it?

For the past year, I have been writing exclusively on my iPad Pro. While I miss a lot of the features from the Mac version, I find it keep me focused and writing. With that said, there are some frustrations to Scrivener on the iPad. Editing can be a chore. When selecting sentences or paragraphs, th...

Re: Scrivener Crashes

I recently started to use Scratchpad and really like it. But now, every time I start making notes there, the program quits on me. I have not lost any copy but it's bothersome to be in the middle of a thought and 'poof' the screen is blank. This is the only time applications crash on both my 2020 iM...

A heads-up: macOS MRT 1.68 update causing problems—excessive CPU usage

It was originally thought to be an issue for Sierra and El Capitan OSs but there’s reports for others as well. One symptom is high CPU usage (possibly trustd and MRT) as shown in Activity Monitor app. The machine becomes sluggish and system logs get accordingly filled. If affected, see the article c...

If you directly pasted, instead try Unstyled Paste, and/or if using an external keyboard Paste and Match Style.

A heads-up for iOS Pages app users

There’s a bug that can cause work loss. It’s easy to check if you’re affected. It involves naming and/or renaming a document and might only be triggered if iCloud is used. As far as I can tell, the bug occurs in the latest iOS/iPadOS and Pages app. I’m running earlier software versions so I’m unable...

Re: VMWare fusion vs Parallels vs Boot Camp.

Good news. Glad you’re up and running. Jaysen and brookter are gentlemen and scholars.

I can’t test Fusion, yet anyway. I haven’t upgraded to 10.15 so haven’t bothered to see if I meet the other requirements.

Re: VMWare fusion vs Parallels vs Boot Camp.

Just a note for consideration: I’ve never used VMware; have used VBox with Mac and Windows as hosts, Linux guests. VMware’s latest release, v12, has a “free” personal, non-commercial use version of VMware Fusion Player. As I understand it, you have to register at their site before downloading. It ap...

Re: Disabling Smart Quotes for Code Span and Code Block

If I'm understanding the issue, something to try.... First, in Scrivener Preferences > Corrections > Punctuation > tick box for––Disable smart quotes in script mode....(There's also a setting there for disabling smart dashes and ellipses in script mode.) Then, before entering a Code Span or Block, e...

Re: auto numbering documents while merging

Prior to merging them, "tag" the beginning of each document with an Inline Annotation . Beyond the numbering desire, the Inline Annotation could be made additionally useful. One thing a meaningful tag is useful for––it's searchable (in a selective way) using Scrivener's Find by Formatting ...

Re: Can you export Scrivener Color Palette to new computer?

If you're speaking of color sets: macOS Tip If you wish to share your colour sets with other users, or transfer them to another computer, you will find a file in your user Library folder, under Colors, named Scrivener.clr. Place this file into the same folder on the second computer and it should bec...

@Casuarina,

Chris Rosser has written an Apple Pages tutorial (includes page numbering) here:

It will at the least give you a good grounding.

Re: Scrivener should become subscription

While of course there are still many kinds of users and a generalisation doesn't cover them all, it does seem to me that more and more users expect simplicity and fewer know their way around the computers they use every day - or at least have different expectations of them. (An ongoing issue for ou...
