Re: Puzzled about right indents

Moving the RH indent as below doesn't do what you want? It does not. Both that marker and the option (in the Format > Text > Tabs and Indents... dialog) set the distance from the left margin. To see the problem, imagine that I want to create a block quote style that is inset from both the left and ...

Puzzled about right indents

The manual (p. 208) says: A right indent pushes the text boundary toward the left, away from the right margin. Given that description, I would expect a value of .5 in to put the text boundary .5 in from the right margin. Instead, it appears to put the boundary .5 in from the left margin. Am I missin...

Convert bold/italics to MultiMarkcown format during compile

I would like the option to convert bold and italics to MMD format during compile. It would seem to fit well in the Plain Text Conversions section of the Transformations tab. I compile to various formats for various reasons. For most of those formats, I need to leave the bold and italics as rich text...

Re: Separate UI state from content/structure in files

That would help me switch UI states easily. That's not what I'm asking for. I want to tell my version control system (usually git) not to bug me about file changes if all I've done is open a file, navigate around in it, and select stuff. Currently, simply opening and closing a Scrivener file changes...

Separate UI state from content/structure in files

A feature I would love: A Scrivener file format that puts UI state information into its own file(s), separately from the project content and structure information.

This would allow me to configure my version control system to ignore changes in UI state.

Re: How to shift marked phrases to uppercase during compile?

That's right. For some compiles (e.g. for a paperback or ebook) I want uppercase. For others (e.g. to submit the story to a magazine in standard manuscript format) I want to leave the text as is.

Re: How to shift marked phrases to uppercase during compile?

Okay, I figured it out. ⋅ Put the text to be uppercased into the title of the document, and remove it from the body of the document. So the start of the first sentence in the document will be in the title, and the remainder will be in the body. ⋅ In compile settings > Formatting ...

How to shift marked phrases to uppercase during compile?

Is there a way to shift a specifically marked set of words to UPPERCASE during compile? I know I can instruct Scrivener to uppercase a specified number of words during compilation. But that's not what I want to do. I want to be able to mark a phrase, and shift that to uppercase. The phrases are not ...

Re: Is there a way to keep auxiliary windows open?

So it's a combination of how Mac works, and the programmers' choice to display certain information in utility panels instead of some other form of display. If this behavior can be toggled for QuickReference panels, I'll bet it could also be toggled for other utility panels. I'd like that. If you mak...

Is there a way to keep auxiliary windows open?

I often want to switch to another program briefly, but still view the information in some of Scrivener's auxiliary windows (Stats window, QuickView windows, and so on). But when I switch away, those windows all close, leaving only the main window open. For example, this month I often want to type my...

How to assign a keyboard shortcut to a document template

I my projects, I use a common project template that has a folder of document templates. I want to assign keyboard shortcuts to each document template, so that if I type the shortcut, Scrivener creates a new document from the associated document template. I cannot figure out how to do this. The probl...

Compile summary displays incorrect quick font override

I have several custom compile formats in which I have selected a font for Quick Font Override. Compile > All Options > Quick Font Override displays an incorrect Font. When the correct font is Courier, the summary tab displays Corbel, which is two fonts above Courier in my font list. When the correct...

Sort by creation date (or other metadata)

I use Scrivener to collect ideas that I may use some day in my writing. I have several such collections (fiction, personal blog, articles, business blog). For these, I would like to sort my documents not only by title, but also by creation date and modification date. I know I could simply order them...

Re: What screencast tips would you like?

Tips on various ways to link documents together. After 10 months of use, I only recently discovered that you can drag a document into another document from the binder, and it will add a clickable, wiki-like link.
