Re: Re-activation with Licence provider failed

Gina, this is a well thrashed out problem in this forum. Check the details in this post "unable to verify your activation for more then two months" which has 17 pages and 241 posts so far. Latest news was of another update to bring Scrivener for Windows up to version 1.9.16.0 on Thursday 1...

Re: Speech recognition

Yes Dragon works well. I don't use it as often as I should because my work flow is not as efficient as it should be. Dictation works better, I think, if you just talk and don't think about editing at the same time. In fact, that is what's recommended for typing too but I'm not a speed typist and I d...

Re: Speech recognition

I tried but didn't get very good results. With W10 speech recognition, I find the better way is to start it by using the Windows key + H. This gives a rather long thin bar at the top of my screen with an image of a microphone at the left hand end. Then clicking in my Scrivener text doc and dictating...

Re: unable to verify your activation for more then two months

Just to help keep this thread near the top of the blog list where it can be seen easily because at least 2 more new threads have been started on this subject. On one of these, a user has posted advising against installing the latest fix (which as far as I know is 1.9.15.0 of 13th October). I install...

Re: Windows 3 release

On top of the bug fixing in V3, the devs were probably impacted by the catastrophic troubles caused by their having to change their software registration contractors last summer. See the multiple threads in the Technical Support (Windows) forum for details. Tiho, at least, was involved in many of th...

Re: unable to verify your activation for more then two months

I fixed the earlier problem on my machine by installing 1.9.14.0 when it was released on Sept 18 (or 17th) and everything was ok. I checked this forum on Oct5 and saw that a new error message was appearing - the 3 to 6 months message - and hoped that some fix would be found rapidly. After a few days...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Just installed the new version 1.9.14.0
Started up rapidly without the 10 - 20 seconds 'not responding' that we've had recently. First impressions are good.

Let's see over the next few days' operations.

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Is it possible that someone can explain in (very) basic terms what I have to do to fix this as all I'm getting at the moment is Scrivener telling me that my trial period is over and to enter my licence number which I have done (purchased in 2015) but it does nothing I'm afraid I have very little co...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Re: using second fix version of scrivener.exe supplied by Tiho a couple of days' ago -- Previously over the several years that I have been using Scrivener, every time I shut Scrivener down there would be a slight pause and a dialogue box with a progress bar would advise me that a copy was being made...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Hi again - tried your second fix, Tiho. Works fine but I can't say the startup is perfect. Initially, Scrivener starts up in a flash with the previous used project opened. But the formatting of the project is not correct and it takes a full 10 seconds of inactivity (in the visual sense - obviously s...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

Same problem today. Thro the summer I used scriv only occas ionally including last week without any problems.. Today my W10 -1903-64 bit box offered me a MS update of KB4511555 - which is a cumulative update for .NET 3.5 and 4.8 which I installed. So that update got the blame initially when Scrivene...

Re: The plan: Ubuntu wine scrivener

I'm running scrivener for Windows 1.9.9.0 under wine 3.0.4 using a flavour of Ubuntu 18.04.1 (UbuntuStudio). There was no need to create especially a C: drive. I think installation of wine takes care of that. It works ok for me and I keep my active Scrivener project in a Dropbox folder which looks a...
