Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

No idea. I myself don't want to use bèta software but if someone has ipados bèta and would like to test it, he/she is always welcome to share feedback or results. I think the problem is not necessary a download limit but rather that it wants to send the file to Scrivener before it got completely dow...

Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

The main limitation is, as sidderke knows, that annoying Dropbox issue with slowness while scanning large folder structures. But that isn’t quite the same thing as overall gigabytes. You can have 10gb with five binder items. In theory a 70mb project that is only text, but has +10,000 binder items a...

Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

The initial upload to Dropbox could take a while, but even that was not too bad. That was/is 20GB in total, and took maybe a couple of hours. Surprisingly, the first download to my devices, iPad or iPhone, went pretty quick, like an hour or so, at most. I don't know if it's because we have pretty go...

Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

@sidderke, have you tried this way: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=239174#p239174 I tested it *just because* a while back (iOS 12.x) and it worked, but it was with a far less than GB project. Yes, that's the one I tried, and it works with smaller files, but not with very b...

Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

It works with like a 10MB file, but with a 10GB file, it says it can't open it. Are you saying that you are usually syncing a 10 Gb project via Dropbox between your Mac and iDevice? I have about 25 Scrivener projects, of which about 6 are between 1GB and 10GB. The 10 GB being the biggest one. I hav...

Re: Any other sync options on the horizon ?

I tried to see what happened when you put a Scrivener File in iCloud Drive, and opening it in the iOS Files App, which would send it indeed to Scrivener iOS and asks you where to save/open it. It works with like a 10MB file, but with a 10GB file, it says it can't open it. I guess because you can't d...

Off topic but your guys' included tutorial is great to get up to speed with Scrivener in a couple of hours.

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

I hope Keith does NOT clutter Scrivener with lots and lots of more and more special gadgets and whistles and whatever. difficult to find the few things you really want to use. And if someone wants Scrivener IOS to become more powerful, like Scrivener on the Mac? Are you saying the Mac version has t...

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

Sorry but an app is not like a book. If you would be comparing a game-app, I could follow, but Scrivener is productivity software, it is a TOOL, not something to be merely enjoyed but to be USED. If a company makes a hammer, you also would see people saying: this design works better to let me do *th...

Re: iCloud Sync

I guess maybe with pinned files in iOS 13 it could be a solution. I think that is key. As I understand it, it is presently very difficult to manually tell iCloud Drive to do anything. It’s good they are finally adding the ability to be able to fully download (and keep synced) a resource. I’m still ...

Re: iCloud Sync

My method described above doesn't seem to work for a multi GB file. When I click it in Files, Scrivener iOS opens and shows a dialog box: Could not import project. The project could not be found (it may need downloading) or Scrivener does not the permission to open it from current location. I guess ...

Re: iCloud Sync

Katherine, since last week I activated the Documents and Desktop feature of macOS. So far so good. I'm planning on not optimizing storage on my iMac, since I have enough storage there, and I do use the feature on my Macbook Air. (disclaimer: at this point: my most active projects are still in Dropbo...

Re: iCloud Sync

As I said, it’s a tough one to wrestle with. Agreed. BTW, I read today on Twitter that the new Files app in iOS 13 lets you pin files AND folders, which will stay offline available on your device, and download changes immediately when they happen (from any other device), now, which wasn't possible ...
