Antagonistic post but I’ll bite.

Cakewalk has gone through at least 3 owners and that is bound to impact its development processes

Re: Windows Scrivener 3 - Project Compatibility

Great - that was my understanding as well. Bad - my SSD is corrupting my files. ~12 corrupt Scriv projects. [ a few other Docx/Jpgs/etc as well ] :( :( :( Having Dropbox, Onedrive, and Google drive on the same SSD is not necessarily a good idea. [ different directories of course ] Luckily I have a f...

Windows Scrivener 3 - Project Compatibility

Hello,

Can Scrivener 3 for windows natively read:

*) all scrivener 1.9.x Windows projects?
*) all scrivener 2.x Mac projects?
*) all scrivener 3.x Mac and Windows projects?

without any processing by the other versions of Scrivener?

Thank you.

Re: A Mostly Complete Guide to Installing Scrivener on Linux

Sorry but I still face problems while trying to install Scrivener into Ubuntu 17.04. I have tried with gdebi and pkcon with no success. I think the problem is related to Ubuntu 17.04 not providing the versions for some libraries like libpng12 ( I have found libpng16 installed on my system ) ... Is ...

Re: Won't work using Crossover 17 on Mac

I installed wine (on linux) and winetricks. I created a default bottle (64 bit, even though scrivener is a 32bit app) using winetricks, i installed the MS fonts and the speechSDK 5.1. This got past the black splash screen issue with the scrivener 3 beta. The fonts look hideous but it works. If you w...

Re: OCR to recover an old MS?

Find a local copyshop that will scan to PDF. Or possibly free at your library. Then use one one of many OCR apps suggested.

Re: 'use date' backup names

You are correct, 'show extensions' was turned off.

However, would it be possible to insert some sort of delimiter like an underscore or another dot between "bak" and the date to make legibility better?

right now it looks like this:

"ProjectOne.bak2016-01-02T21-25_1"

Thanks :)

'use date' backup names

is it possible to change the naming convention of the backup files from:

projectname.bakYYYY ( shortened for reading)

to:

projectname_YYYY.bak ?

I find it easier to read and differentiate by file name extensions.

Right now each backup is its own extension

Thanks :)

Re: how to turn off autocorrect?

In the Windows version: Tools ->Options -> Corrections -> uncheck "Check Spelling as you type".

On the mac, I think it's in Edit -> spelling & grammar -> check spelling

Re: Frustrated with non-intuitive UI

You have some valid feedback on the usability aspect. I think I gave up on scrivener twice on the mac a few years ago, flipping between Word,Pages, and StoryMill. "Getting used to it" is not the bar in usability, however usability IS hard. maybe for the 4.x series, the scrivener team can c...

Re: Weird message - how do I re-educate project?

I think you've turned on a script writing mode.

In Windows, I can toggle a script mode from the Format menu: Format -> Script Writing -> Script Mode

See if there is something similar on the Mac.
