Re: EPUB 3 compile never completes

I've seen this behaviour a couple of times. I seem to recall that it was caused by a <weird character> that I presume I had pasted in from somewhere else. Anyway, the way I worked on the problem was to remove documents until the project compiled – in a kind of binary chop way – to isolate the proble...

Re: Folders in collections

Folder management for collections is sufficient. I didn't want to be overly prescriptive.

(I was wrong to use collection in its general sense in this case.)

Re: Folders in collections

<bump> for the collections of collections (aka collections' folders) request to be considered. Plus, a new request: Links to collections. Use case: I build a compendium (i.e. a top-level folder with docs) of my worlds as I write. I would be very handy to have a link in some of those documents to usa...

Re: Alternative to 1Password?

I've used Enpass for a few years with an MBP and odd iOS devices. I sync via iCloud, but it supports all the usual sync candidates. You can also enable automatic local backups. It's not the sexiest UX, but it does the job just fine, and it's been pain-free to date. It's hard to get excited about som...

Re: Folders in collections

That's great! Thanks for bringing my attention to this. I now have an even greater need for collections of collections :D

Folders in collections

Collections are one of Scrivener's gems. The more I use them, the more I want to use them, and the more unmanageable they become  <redact> Reasons why collections are amazing</redact> Two wishes: ⋅ Collections of collections (aka collections folders) ⋅ Search by custom ...

Re: Set up dependencies between documents

It's interesting how you see this as a dynamic feature. I was thinking more statically. e.g. go to a view where anomalies are displayed – either graphically or via text (e.g. outline),

Re: Set up dependencies between documents

Just to +1 this idea, though I understand where Keith is coming from. That said, given all the other document metadata that's available, it would be useful to have some structured metadata. Personally, I lean on character arc's quite a lot, so end up using Sriv labels for them. Having doc dependenci...

Re: How would you write a good amnesia opening?

Frances Hardinge's, Cuckoo Sing starts with a nice example of your first (and tackles the point GR makes in the final para).

You might get some ideas from the film, Memento.

Hi Cory,

Quick OT aside: What do you use to produce your maps?

Best,

Re: Focus in Composition Mode?

How very frustrating! It's probably worth trying this: Save your preferences as a preset then reset to the defaults. (On the off chance that the prefs have a glitch in them; possibly due to bringing them over from Scriv 2.) Otherwise, I'd report this in the Bug Hunt forum where it might attract a L&...

Re: Focus in Composition Mode?

I had an issue with focus in composition mode recently, although it was related to macOS tabs. So I can only make a suggestion. Try going to Preferences/Behaviours/Composition Mode and unchecking all the options. (fyi: the top selection I have on that dialogue is Current Screen and the bottom Hide D...

Re: Juggling notes and written text

My approach is a bit different. I use two projects, then use tabs and split screen – I tend to have the inspector hidden and binder open. In split screen, both projects are available all the time. You can drop in and out of composition mode from split screen, but of course you only have one project ...

Ah, I had Hide main window in composition mode enabled and disabling it fixed things for me. Thanks very much.

Re: Story Arc's

Hi Stuart, Though I don't entirely follow your specific problem, I do understand the problem more generally. I've resorted to using other tools to track story arcs. I can "tag" them in Scrivener – I've been using labels – but I don't find that's successful in practice. It's useful for stru...
