Re: What is the default binder font in Scrivener for Mac?

I'm back on the Mac now and can check... As I said before, you *can* download the system font and use it as you want -- it's just not available by default and it's given another name. Have a look at the web page I posted the link to before and download the font called SF Pro (short for San Francisc...

Re: Which is better with Scrivener: MacBook Air or 27-inch iMac?

I have a newish MBA and plug in a 27" monitor when at my desk – best of both worlds. Use of macOS's desktop feature helps a lot, but when you need apps side by side, additional real estate always wins. Personally, I'd never give up the portability of the MBA.

Re: What is the default binder font in Scrivener for Mac?

System Font 12 This is not listed in the fonts' window, at least not in mine. So the question is rather, what font is the System Font! The Defaults button might do the trick but I assume it would reset all settings. It seems to be Helvetica Neue – although when I make that change, the row spacing c...

Re: Split Screen view problem

I'd suggest reading the manual section 8.1.4 Splitting the Editor. You can lock a split editor with Lock in Place (Opt+Cmd+L) – the banner changes colour to indicate the editor is locked – then select the behaviour of the other editor via Preferences/Behaviours/Navigation/When focused editor is lock...

Re: Software to change characters speech patterns?

Not answering the OP's question specifically, but...

One thing I'd love in Scrivener is a way to view each character's dialogues in isolation. I've never added it to the Wish List, because I'm sure it's outside KB's scope – and likely fiendishly difficult to implement – and a niche requirement.

Just a thought: "crown jewels" might be a useful euphemism for male genitalia here.

Re: Feedback on opening paragraph please

We're all silent critics… but since you asked. You first tell us about the Fool being worried, and the you show us why he or she is worried. I'd focus on the showing. I'm not one to get hung up on passive vs active – passive is fine – but a bit of active during kick-off is often a good thing. Things...

Three dots seach oddity

A bit niche this. I was searching a draft for three periods that hadn't converted to ellipsis, using regex \.\.\. This finds all documents with the offending dot sequence, but it also lists in the results all documents that haven't been given a name (they show the initial text instead); none of whic...

Re: Disabling Snapshots Entirely

For anyone happy in terminal (or similar – I know, I know), the following command might help after navigating to the Scrivener project file:

Code: Select all

du -s * |  sort -rh

The output looks like this:

Code: Select all

3.0M   Files
272K   Settings
240K   project.scrivx
228K   QuickLook
  0B   Snapshots
  0B   Icons

Re: Issues re: back ups and syncing via Dropbox between Macbook and iMac

I work with multiple macbooks, so sync'ing is important to me. I sync both Scrivener projects and Scrivener backups. (I also sync and share Scrivener's setting and scratchpad, but that's another story). This has worked well for me for some time. I happen to use iCloud, but obviously Dropbox should w...
