Re: Scapple crashing when zooming in/out

You might want to provide some basic diagnostics, such as: Scapple version and macOS version.

fwiw, it works fine here on v1.3.3 and macOS10.14.6 (also on an Air, as it happens).

Re: Butterfly Dawn (NiaD 2019)

Just want to add my thanks to Rog for making NiaD happen again. It's an event that genuinely earns the title of: there's nothing else like it.

Re: I guess Scrivner is way better on MAC

On a slight tangent: I bought one of the new Airs last November specifically for writing (with Scrivener, of course). It's pretty much perfect, if you want near iPad-portability with an inbuilt keyboard. The single finger-tap sign in means time to writing is literally one second. Add the in-built di...

Re: Passive Verbs?

There's nothing wrong with the passive voice in fiction. That first sentence is an example. As is that one. ... Orwell is often quoted in this context: ““Never use the passive where you can use the active.” (From his essay Politics and the English Language.) Rarely is the following paragraph attache...

Re: How do you use Label and Status fields?

Thanks Tribalrose . I too would love to be able to 'see' (color, background whatever) both the status and the label in the binder at the same time. But then again, I do want my cake and to eat it too! :D Anybody else? Yes, this would be great. Like others, I use Labels for character/story arcs, whi...

Re: A Note About Upgrading to macOS Catalina

I use a Macbook Pro 15", and just now upgraded to MacOS Catalina. When opening Scrivener (license bought from Literature And Latte), my Mac openes a window telling me to type in my license or my 30 day trial will expire) .... what's up with that? fwiw, I had this issue last night on a machine ...

Re: Split window Lock in Place document overwritten by Quick Search result

Gonna ping this, because I'm doing a second edit and hit this issue ten times a day.

Appreciate y'all are in Windows-delivery mode – must be hell – but would appreciate a yeah or nay on this.

Re: Custom Icons

I just downloaded a template and it has "custom icons", but I have no idea where to put them to make them recognized by Scrivener 3. Can anyone help me? Documents/Change Icon/Manage Custom Icons... You can also right-click a document in the browser to get to Change Icon/Manage Custom Icon...

Re: Dialogue Tags

I'm in no way contradicting @brookter; but I have a different view. Note the semicolon between my clauses :-) I'd edit this as: "I’m on my way now," Lizzie said. "But make sure the door is locked and have your Beretta in hand ready to go." The two clauses in: "I’m on my way ...

Split window Lock in Place document overwritten by Quick Search result

1. Open a document in editor 2. Lock in place (opt+cmd+L) 3. Split editor window vertically (cmd+") 4. Quick search something (ctrl+opt+G) 5. Select a result 6. Result document opens in locked window and Lock in Place is deactivated. Expected result: Result document opens in second window and L...

I export to OPML from Scapple and import into MindNode.

British: 'Go home ', he said, 'to your father.' (The original didn't have one, so the comma goes outside...) I've never seen this construction. Can you cite an a example? Not challenging you, but out of curiosity. That example I gave is actually from the Oxford Guide to Style itself. So it is. Well...

Re: Dialogue Tags

Loads of great advice here. I'm pretty closely aligned with @brookter. I'll add a couple of things to the mix: Read your dialogue aloud. Doing so makes it clear what is and isn't needed. If you're new to this, then perhaps have someone else read it to you. As a writer, you have to develop writing an...
