Re: Apple itself

I have no particular interest in a particular outcome for this debate, nor a strong feeling about who may be right or wrong. However, it continues to surprise me that some individuals announce their opinion, and then say, "And don't bother to talk anymore because I'm artificially trying to have...

Re: Does a thesis count?

Sarah - Congratulations! That is very impressive and you should be proud. I have just completed a much more modest achievement, my master's degree in education. I did compose a thesis (called a "critique" at my institution) and while it pales in comparison to the effort and focus required ...

Re: Apple iPad & Scrivener

Well as long as we're on the topic, Keith, can you please please PLEASE develop a version for my original Newton MessagePad? Thanks, no rush, I can wait until next week.

Re: Scrivener for iPad

Keith's logic makes perfect sense to me.

I will probably buy an iPad at some point, and will always use Scrivener, but if I need to own a laptop to use Scrivener, I will. It will make long plane trips less writing-intensive, but like I said, the thought process makes sense.

Re: Anyone Planning for NaNo 2009?

Congrats! I finished mine in 15 days this year - fourth year in a row I've completed a book in November, it's an amazing experience.

Re: Crash report: editing in fullscreen

Sorry, I didn't save the second crash report. However, if it happens again I will post the report. No, I cannot reproduce the error now (of course). I am writing in the same project (different chapter) in Full Screen now, and opened and closed the Project Targets several times, and it seems fine. Th...

Re: Crash report: editing in fullscreen

Keith, No, I was NOT using Edit Scrivenings at the time. I had the project open for a while, had clicked into different binder docs, had written a little, then launched Full Screen mode. I dragged the scroll box down the right side to move to a different part of the doc I was writing, and then click...

Crash report: editing in fullscreen

Hi, I was just editing my nano (about 35k words) in full screen and Scriv crashed without warning. I have copied and pasted the "problem report" below, in case it's of any use/interest. This has not happened to me before, and I'm not having any other issues with Scriv or anything else righ...

Re: WWDC - Snow Leopard

I bought one of those TVBGone devices and was really disappointed. In US airports, where I spend a lot of time, the loud TVs in gate areas are encased in boxes/brackets that hide the IR port so it's tough to get the signal thru to the TV. Even in areas where the TV is fully exposed, the range on the...

This is very disrespectful of Mrs. McCain.

Re: I find the word "whilst" exceedingly annoying...

I don't find it annoying, but it does sound anachronistic to me. I associate it with one thing and one thing only: In the 1970s I was given as a novelty gift a telephone that had been installed on board a Cunard liner of the previous era: the CARONIA. In the center of the dial was a little sign, pri...

Re: 7 full days left... who's still in?

I'm in. It's a mess, but you know, that's what happens when you focus almost exclusively on word count. I'm at 36,865, so right around the target for this point in the month. If I keep plugging away I'll be successful at fulfilling my goals for the 3rd year in a row. Long live Nano. Long live Scrive...

Re: Trouble setting Text Editing in Prefs

Bungalow your Font Pane may be compressed Yes! Problem solved! Thank you Wock. I was suffering from a case of laptop-induced Font Pane Compression (FPC). I had dragged the bottom right handle a LITTLE but not enough. It would be great if there were something (a scroll bar?) that indicated some of t...
