Re: Syncing !

I'm playing with Dropbox right now, it's a most excellent application indeed !
Experimenting with live .scriv packages for now, keeping a cautious eye on it (I know it's not recommanded and much better to "backup to" as zip archive !)

Re: Storing .scriv bundles in Devonthink Pro 2

Yes indeed, DT2 does not really index Scrivner's projects, even though it stores them all right (I've been experimenting lately).

I guess I'll keep them separated then, and drag what reference material I need from one to the other.

Thanks for your view on that subject !

Storing .scriv bundles in Devonthink Pro 2

Hello folks ! Has anyone here some experience with storing .scriv bundles within DevonThink 2 ? I just tried with a couple .scriv and it seems to work with no problem (DT2 imports them all right and even shows the titles of the different drafts present in the document - but not the research document...

Re: Syncing !

Ah yes, I forgot about Dropbox (I even learnt about it in those forum earlier !). Yes, it's probably a good workaround, and more generic, too. But yet, I feel a built-in sync in Scrivener would have its purpose.

Syncing !

One functionality would really make my day : syncing .scriv packages through Internet to another computer running Scrivener ! The usage scenario I have in mind goes like this : while working within a Scrivener project, I hit a "Sync this project" button. Scrivener then goes out on the web,...

Thanks Scrivener, you saved my day !

One of my last project was to write an hybrid between an article and a full guide showing many different solutions. The article part was easy, but then the solutions had to be selected and classified according different criteria, and organized. Since Scrivener has become my de-facto writing tool for...

Re: devonthink+bookends+scrivener for academic work

Great, that will definitly be useful to me ! I just bought Devonthink 2 and was wondering how to best integrate it to my actual workflow (I use Omnifocus for projects management, Scrivener to store all project-related info + project writing, and on the side Yojimbo for storing pieces of data that mi...

Re: Scrivener as a GTD-manager?

Being an avid user of Omnifocus (one of the many GTD app on the Mac), I really don't think Scrivener should be asked to do GTD or any kind of "life / work planning". It may be me, but it just does not feel right. Scrivener is all writing-related, as is its outliner : it relates to a specif...

Re: Licence question

Or Dropbox: http://www.getdropbox.com/ ? Minimal fiddling. H Hey, that Dropbox service looks really promising. That's rsync with a GUI and no fuss, I like that ! I'm already using rsync between my two computers so I can code (web / PHP) from one location or the other. But that's appropriate since t...

ps

(edit of previous message) : alas, AT doesn't seem to track individual .scriv projects. I guess I need a per-project solution then.

Time-Keeping !

That might be a far-off feature, but I'd love to see Scrivener keep track of the time spent actually *working* on each document (and giving a grand project total). That would not be just how long a document has been kept open (as one can have several projects & documents open at the same time wi...

Great, thanks !

Now I just have to fiddle with rsync to keep up-to-date copies of my work on both computers... eeek !

Licence question

Hi, A quick licence question : can I install two copies of Scrivener (at home and at the office) with the same licence I bought ? Most of the softwares I have allow this (as long, of course, as only one instance is running at any given time and it's been used by the same person). That'll be quite co...

Why did I buy Scrivener

I just paid for Scrivener, and this is why. Of course, most of my reasons will either be very well-known to anybody who already enjoys Scrivener, or irrelevant for others with different writing habits or requirements. But anyway, here's what made me fork my money over : - The cool Binder to store st...
