There are some times on my PC when, for some reason, Windows thinks the Windows or the Alt key got "stuck" - so I'll be typing something, and when I press "e", an Explorer window will appear. I wonder if something similar is happening - some command sent or a key state (Shift, Ct...
In case this tip is helpful to anyone, here's what I do for submitting a NaNo word count: Since I'm on the Windows version of Scrivener, which lacks many of the Mac features like "Select All" from the editor in scrivenings mode), I made a custom compile preset that removes part and chapter...
Using the Windows International Keyboard is the least-intrusive way I've found to do this, though it can be a pain also. Back in the 80's, there was a DOS-based app, possibly LEWP (Leading Edge Word Processing) that used a backtick technique where you'd use the ` character and then a letter to accen...
I have a theory - I suspect that the quotes you're pasting from Word are different than the quotes Scrivener uses. So, while they may be visually indistinguishable to you, they're technically uniquely different symbols, so Scrivener tries to close it's quotes with the matching character it uses, whi...
Personally, I use LibreOffice. My understanding is that a large portion of the active developers from OpenOffice moved over to LibreOffice, and it gets a lot more active development now that that group is out from under Sun. However, the specific needs you have with regard to file converting may nec...
Note that flash drives have a limited number of write cycles - typically between 10,000 and 100,000. This is generally plenty to last for as long as people use them before replacing them with a bigger one, since people generally write to them periodically, even if that's several times per day. But w...
For what it's worth, the auto-update worked fine for me, also on Windows 10. I do run as an administrative user, so I don't know if that's related, though it's never asked for elevation. I was updating from the latest beta.
Hi Gibinna, and welcome! The beta will run until the expiry date and then will no longer open (instead giving a "beta expired" message); we'll have a newer build available for download at that point, so you can continue testing. Typically you could also revert to the official version, but...
Hello, Using the latest Scrivener for Windows Beta, the "Progress" bar never seems to show any progress, and I think I see why. In my project, I have folders for Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. Each of these has chapter folders, and those have scenes. I had set some initial target word counts ...
I tried single-clicking a second time after highlighting (like with Windows Explorer), I tried F2 (like with Windows Explorer), and I tried right-clicking for an edit option. I did *not* try double-clicking, which I assumed would open the link. However, it seems that double-clicking does indeed edit...
I am either an idiot and overlooked something, or there isn't a way to edit a reference in the Inspector. Once it's created, the URL or title seem immutable, and the only way to make a change is to delete and re-create it. So, I'd love for there to be a way to edit the references.
Also of interesting note is that if I switch the view in LibreOffice from Print Layout to Web Layout, everything shows up. This further suggests a LibreOffice issue, I suspect.
Thanks for your reply. I *am* getting the return address printed from that page, so the page is definitely being included. But it's odd that it doesn't say just " words", or "by " without the author name, so it's clearly not a simple substitution issue. I opened the resulting RTF...
Hello, I'm a new user playing with the Scrivener beta 1.8.9.1, and I think I've noticed an issue. I have a new project I created using the Short Story template. I added a few paragraphs, and then compiled to an RTF file. The "First Page Header" file omitted the title, byline, and word coun...
