Re: Windows Users: Do you recommend Scrivener?

As for, the issue, besides being difficult to learn, is that there is no Android version for mobile use. If you'd like to do work on an Android tablet and sync with Scrivener for your main workplace, you can't. You'll need to use something like Evernote or Joplin. Then you are stuck with the task o...

Re: How can I play Wordracer on my new Mac OX S comptuer? why does it say "Does not support live script"?

Is there a word for when someone / a bot posts something unrelated (or super vague) to a forum for the purposes of establishing an account to then use later for nefarious purposes? Whatever the industry term might be, the original post looks like one of those. Candidates for the term: Trojan Horse i...

Re: Will folders for custom icons be a thing?

Thanks for the idea! I have tried this, but this makes the icons I put in this 'category' disappear and a blank section appear in Scrivener. When I hover over it, no expanded menu appears, and when I click on it, it gives a blank icon. Oh no. I chose poorly when I used the : character as a separato...

Re: Will folders for custom icons be a thing?

In the mean-time, you can name your icons as you import them, so that they sort like an expanded set of folders. For example:

faces:smile
faces:lol
faces:eye roll
books:stack
books:open
books:green
books:blue

That will at least help you visually scan for the right category of icons.

Re: Serious slow down on Big Sur

39k is a lot of text to highlight and then fiddle with bold/italic, etc... Scrivener has built-in ways of normalizing text without selecting it, such as the Documents->Convert->Text To Default Format, which uses the settings in either Scrivener->Preferences->Editing->Formatting, or the equivalent se...

Re: migrating to windows from mac - solved

Sync with external Folder is for editing some of your documents using another piece of software, not for syncing entire Scrivener projects for use by other computers running Scrivener. If you've already figured out how to sync between Mac Scrivener and iOS Scrivener, then you should just do the same...

Re: Possible to add Scapple board to Scrivener project without generating a copy

You can import the scapple file as an alias. File->Import->Import Research Files as Aliases it the menu, I believe. I think it should borrow the quicklook view of your scapple document from the finder to display in Scrivener, but won't actually add a copy of the file into the project.

Re: Files with name plus "Backup"

In theory that sounds right, but where do these backup.scriv files appear from? I keep capturing them and zipping them in folders. At that point there are no files with this extension. Then they start creeping back. If you open a project that is in Scrivener 2's format, Scrivener 3 will create a ba...

Re: Files with name plus "Backup"

To avoid having lingering projects in an old format, search your hard drive for .scriv projects. Sort by name, and discard the "backup" copies of those that have them. For the ones that don't already have backup copies, open them in scrivener. If they needed to be converted to the new form...

Re: Scrivener vs Word Anvil

Because Scrivener files are saved in their own proprietary format, you cannot access and edit your projects on your phone or tablet , even if they are stored on Dropbox. Scrivener files can only be opened by running Scrivener on Windows-based operating sys Perhaps I missed something skimming the or...

Re: Saving different groups of Documents to Compile - Do They Exist

I just wanted to second the suggestion of using collections. At the compile window, there's going to be a filter that allows you to select a collection for inclusion or exclusion of the documents listed therein. You can either add documents to "manual" collections, or if there are searchab...

Re: PASTING TEXT FROM WORD

I'm not sure what's going on here, but are you sure all of your text was pasted into Scrivener? Maybe your copy buffer wasn't big enough? Try dragging the Word document into the draft folder to see if the entire document is imported that way. FYI, it will copy, not move, you file's contents into Scr...
