I'd like a template for flash fiction. Yes, I know I can use the short story one, but I'd prefer one specifically for flash fiction. I   s that possible? You're better off starting a new topic about this, as it's not really about the text styling system. Be specific about what you nee...
You could customize your format/use an alternate way of formatting your chapter titles... You can either add text directly to the folders, or to the first line of your first sub-document within each folder. That text would be "<$parenttitle>" for the former or "<$title>" for the ...
To be clear, Scrivener has always operated on files stored on the device you're working from, and has always needed all of those files available locally to the device to operate properly. It's never saved directly to any cloud servers. On Mac and Windows, there is no code in Scrivener to communicate...
When you say "file types", are you referring to documents that have a "document type" assigned to them? If there is any metadata on a file that you can find using the project search, you can save that search, and then in the main compile window, you can use that saved search (aka...
For creating 2 versions of the entries (one short one for footnotes, another longer one for the appendix), you might be able to do this, but you'd have to experiment, as I've not tried it myself... 1. Create a folder for your appendix/dictionary. If you plan to include this at the end of your curren...
If you're not already using the "label" metadata field for anything, you might want to consider using it to tag each document as belonging to one of your 3 timelines. Then use the View->Use Label Color In… menu to see the associated color of each timeline in various parts of the Scrivener ...
I'm not sure what happened last time, but the document search & replace is no longer affecting (even just visually) the snapshot). If I have the focus in the snapshot when I invoke Find & then "replace all", it does visually show that change, but forcing a re-load of that displayed...
The function of Edit->Find->Find (CTRL-f), when used to replace text in a document, will also change matching text in that document's snapshots. Also, the Edit->Find->Project Replace window has the "Snapshots" check-box pre-selected by default. It should not be selected by default, as that...
I can confirm that the standard search & replace function does NOT modify snapshots in the Mac version 3 Scrivener, and that the project replace window has the Snapshots check-box de-selected by default.
I'll post in the Beta forums with this info, since it's a problem with that version too.
Are you talking about Project Search and Replace? Because that window has a check-box for snapshots that you can de-select. In my oppinion, that should be off by default, but it's absolutely a feature. EDIT: That'll teach me to try something before posting. The standard (not Project-) Search / Repla...
I don't know if it's still the case, but connecting an i-device to USB and using iTunes to transfer files was (is?) a way to copy projects from/to an iPhone. It's not a sync solution... you're copying the entire project back and forth that way. Scrivener for iOS can copy one project at a time to a ....
It's apparently the touch id "button".... https://www.howtogeek.com/440630/how-to-turn-your-mac-on-and-off/#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20a%20MacBook,next%20to%20the%20Touch%20Bar.&text=Pressing%20on%20the%20button%20in,will%20turn%20on%20your%20MacBook. Oh, also this is neat: Fast User sw...
I'm holding off on my upgrade, but have been debating on which of the two I would prefer. It seems one of the more significant differences to the user's experience is the Air has no fan, while the Pro does. From initial reports, that means after about 5-10 minutes of heavy load, the Air will throttl...
Browse to the location where you saved the project using the Windows file browser. Is it there? Are you using some kind of sync service that might be archiving "unused" files to the cloud? Were you using some kind of removable media (thumb drive, network attached storage) for the location ...
First, download the latest version of Scrivener from the main website and drag it into your applications folder. If that works, it should take care of the issue with updating. Since you're confident that the project isn't open simultaneously on another computer (as can be done when using a cloud-syn...
