Re: Screen Layout

The Mac version cannot move the inspector pane from the right side. You must be seeing/thinking of something else. Maybe it's an outline view next to the binder, with some optional columns enabled?

Re: Worflow question: handling ideas that pop-up during writing

For notes about your current project... If you're not using the inspector while you write, I would suggest creating a TODO document near the top of the binder and creating a project bookmark to it in the bookmarks pane of the inspector. Keep that open, with the TODO document selected, and you can fr...

Re: ~ in backup path

I do put the project in the same Dropbox folder on both machines, but the PATHNAME to that folder is different, because I have a different username on the two machines. I could make them the same, but it's not a simple process. It doesn’t have to be the same path, except the last part. You install ...

Re: Preferences, saving, loading, etc

My understanding is that "no style" isn't a style, but an absence of one, and therefore, you can't set "no style" to have particular attributes. I base my understanding of this aspect of Scrivener not only on the basis of conversations, but also because if you select text that ha...

Re: Wonderdraft: Fantasy map creation tool

though I actually do want the latest model air I bought mine mostly for writing. I was considering an iPad+keyboard combo, but the MBA is perfect – just the 8/128 base model (which I got for 1,000 + change). I sync everything via iCloud (which iOS Scriv doesn't [yet] do) including Scriv's preferenc...

Re: Wonderdraft: Fantasy map creation tool

Well, it says it needs (bare minimum) an Intel HD Graphics 5000. The NVIDIA is recommended though. But now that I look at my old MB Air (2013 model), I've got a IHD Graphics 4000, so it might not run on mine either. I'm not in the market for a new computer (though I actually do want the latest...

Re: Wonderdraft: Fantasy map creation tool

Wow, that looks amazing. I tried randomly generating continents and islands using a photoshop technique, adapted to Pixelmator (which is a very nice tool, btw), but I ended up generating something that was just kind of "meh". It looks pretty easy (relative to from-scratch PS/Pixelmator tec...

Re: Window Q2

It's interesting, Beta 17 expires in 3 days, and they haven't posted another one yet, so maybe they are making the Q2 deadline. I've never seen them post an update about the next beta before it was made available to download, and they rarely post them until the last day or second to last day of the...

Re: Missing "Body" paragraph format preset

Scrivener's design is that you only style the text that differs from the main body, so when you export, you can override the (typically) vast majority of text formatting, while still preserving block quotes (as a style applied to just that text) and other similar styles. This allows an author to sto...

Re: How to add text to a form like document

However. In Scrivener, styles apply to paragraphs. Not to sentences, not to words. To paragraphs. You can change the font, size, color, et cetera of a single character, no issues, but you change the style and it will apply it to the entire paragraph. A minor correction: There are two types of style...

Re: Moving an existing project from Scrivener 3 to 2 and back to 3

The biggest concerns, if you've used these features much so far, would be: 1. Compile settings. If you've customized compile settings, and they're in the "My Formats" section of the compile listing, then you might want to edit the format and put them in the "Scrivener Formats" se...

Re: Why have all my project files suddenly disappeared?

Never store any of your documents inside the installation folder for any software; those folders can be completely wiped out when you update to a new version or an un-install (sometimes that's necessary if you're having issues). I suggest you put all of your documents in the Documents folder, and ma...

Re: Problem with Compiling

FYI, there's a section of the manual (and probably the tutorial project template) that has a list of binder icons that explain what each means. The folder with a text page overlay means you've written "on" the folder. You can see those from your screenshot, and the difference when you put ...

Re: Problem with Compiling

If I'm seeing things correctly, your folders don't "contain" text documents. If they did, then you'd see that little "disclosure triangle" like the one to the left of "Kaylee gets mad...", and when you clicked on it, the document would appear indented below it. Instead,...
