Can you send us a sample project that you get this in? Thanks!

sent. I copied the project I found it in, cut everything away but two docs in which I verified this happens.

Re: How to create documents templates with the latest Beta ?

I just created an empty project from scratch and the bug has appeared again The Project Template named "Novel" does not have a "Templates" folder. That's a bug in the Novel template. It has a "Template Sheets" folder, but that's not a valid name for a Templates folder....

BUG: metadata substitution varies in behavior

Today I compiled to .doc format. I normally use a number of custom metadata fields, and I print them. However, this particular project had several pieces of the metadata missing, and the compiler behaved differently for some than for others. The field in question was blank, both times. In one instan...

It's there. Not so easy to adjust a theme the way I'd like, but it's all there.

BUG? Not sure... shortcut key sequence overlays 1st line on 2nd...

As mentioned. I have a document where the first few lines are very short. In fact, the first line is centered on the page; it's the chapter number (<$n>). I was trying to access a style, and mistyped the shortcut keys. Ctrl+Shift+3, then Ctrl+Shirt+2, then Ctrl+Shift+1. (I know, wrong shortcuts). An...

Re: [Beta 28] Compile window cut off at bottom and won't resize

I set a custom setting at 140% and hid the Windows taskbar to free up some real estate on the screen. This works, but I'm still squinting to see text as a result. I'm on the cusp of needing reading glasses for this and trying hard to avoid it if possible. Maybe I can push it to 141 or 142%, but it'...

Re: BETA 27. Bug? Layout window too big to use

In the US, only ~20% of desktops have 1920x1080 screens. (https://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution-stats/desktop/united-states-of-america/2019). 1. Despite the graph's title, it conflates desktops AND laptops, which they are unable to distinguish. (This is from the site's FAQ.) [stuff snipped] ...

Re: BETA 27. Bug? Layout window too big to use

@rwfranz: For writing yes, for compiling and editing compile settings the screen height of 768px is not enough to fit all the options. As usual, I found an acceptable workaround: If I set the "Menus and Windows Font" to 6 points (which I admit is a little ridiculous), the compile dialog b...

Re: Kerning in Times New Roman

Yes, we've discussed that exact issue (in that exact font) before. It seems to show only at certain sizes of the font. However, it once could be seen in other fonts, and may still. See the discussions here: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=58729&p=298975&hili...

BUG: visual text display bug in style-highlighted text

When I create a custom style, and I enable highlighting so I can see what text is styled so, there's an interesting visual bug associated with the text so styled, depending on its content and whether it's selected or not. The text is "Custom:POV>". This is a test to see about the "V>&...

Re: BETA 27. Bug? Layout window too big to use

1920x1080 at 125% is definitely not a recommended resolution. 1920x1080 at 100% is. So a laptop with 1366x768 resolution (perhaps the most common laptop resolution) cannot be used for this? Realizing it's an old laptop, it's the laptop I have, and I use it for writing when I'm away from my main com...

Re: [Beta 27] quirky bulleted list behavior

1. I create a bulleted list 2. I press the return key after the last item on the list 3. I erase the extra bullet. 4. But the small indent is left there and I cant get the cursor to the left edge of the page by pressing the backspace key. 5. I have to manually slide the tab handle in the document r...

Re: Beta 27: Smart Quotes in Binder

Just checked this, and, indeed, the Binder does not use Smart Quotes.

And there appears to be no way to force "dumb" quotes into "smart" quotes in the compiler (there's a switch to make smart quotes dumb, but not to make dumb quotes smart).

Re: [Beta 26] Styles for footnotes?

Just took the time to install Beta 27 under Crossover and link a mouse. It all works for me: 1) open in Scrivenings mode; 2) select first inspector footnote/comment; 3) Ctrl-A selects all inspector footnotes/comments; 4) Right-click with mouse opens drop-down menu giving "Convert to default te...
