Re: Tutorial - Snapshot

On further experimentation, ticking only one of clause/paragraph/word gave sensible output, Perhaps a bit more text between the two edits might make the output quality less sensitive?

Re: Tutorial - Snapshot

I just came here to post the exact same issue In 3.1.1. In tutorial/snapshots I got to the part where you type some text and then "Delete the text in the following line". I added some text ADDING A NEW LINE. Then I triple clicked the line thus deleting the whole paragraph. The resulting co...

Re: Focus Mode?

Another vote for a 'de-emphasise all but the bit I'm currently typing' feature like, erm ... another product, (other people have copied ideas from Scrivener, why not pay them the same compliment?) Changing the paper height conceals text, what I want to do is make it fade into the background but stil...

So if you want to game the App Store, you buy an app, write a poor review and claim a refund. Good to know.

Re: MAS Feedback

I can't see the JLG review at all in the UK app store, what am I doing wrong? EDIT: just in case others wonder the same thing, you can choose which country you see reviews from by clicking the flag at bottom right. The US app store has 23 ratings, 22 of which are 5*, the other of which is JLGs. If y...

Scrivener is #6 in the Mac App Store Top Grossing

In the UK, #4 in the US. I'm guessing that means in the past few days rather than ever but ...

Bizarre to see it priced 9 times more than Xcode but quality costs I suppose.

Keith, without prying into actual numbers etc, has the App Store provided a noticeable increase in the Mac the user base yet?

Re: Scrivener 2.0.2 now available

Given that dmg is the common packaging scheme for OSX why are zip files used at all? (BTW we know that tar seems to work.) Keith, sorry for fixating on the tif-file-size red herring when it was the unpack size that was wrong. EDIT: does the file compression discussion here help? http://xahlee.org/Un...

Re: Scrivener 2.0.2 now available

How odd, the files are identical (have the same contents) but occupy different amounts of disc space.

As a sanity check I tried to package up the file with tar, on unpacking the directory sizes were indeed identical.

Re: Scrivener 2.0.2 now available

Keith, tl;dr you've got two different file extensions for tiffs, .tif and .tiff Your no-compress only mentioned .tif so the others were being compressed. It should be: zip -q -r -y -n .tif:.jpg:.tiff test.zip Scrivener.app Then i get 74328 -rw-r--r-- 1 epo admin 38053161 15 Dec 15:44 test.zip before...

Re: Scrivener 2.0.2 now available

FYI on my OSX 10.6.5 system, zip -n of a jpeg does the right thing. The invocation used was zip -n .jpg zipfilename list-of-files-to-zip or zip -n .jpg:.png zipfilename list-of-files-to-zip The '.' before the extension seems to be optional so zip -n jpg zipfilename list-of-files-to-zip also works. Re: Abandoned Scrivener 2 and returning to 1.5x

Cheers Keith.

Still worth an announcement when you you have to do this. It is infuriating to struggle with a bug, spend time gathering evidence and report it, only to discover a fix was available a couple of days previously. (Not that I have even noticed there were bugs to fix!)

[quote="Eddy"] - have you downloaded the latest version?/quote] Fascinating, is there a way to find out when the download has changed? I just downloaded again and discovered it had a different size to that of Nov 1 when I first grabbed it. I'd rather not have to download periodically just ...

Re: Q for KB: how did you record the video tutorials?

We used ScreenFlow for all the video tutorials. David does most of them, though - I only did the introductory one. My microphone is just a cheap Logitech one, but David recently invested in a much better one, not sure which one though. Ta, was background noise a problem? David, what mic did you use?

Re: Site slowdown

If you are using Dreamhosts stop it at once, they are useless to a near-Olympic standard.

I am a very satisfied customer of Linode, if you have people who are able to set up a virtual machine from scratch then they are the best! If you don't have such people then, ahem!, I can help.
