Re: Problem with keyword and custom metadata searches.

Amber, I think that the "save and rebuild search indexes" fixed this. It is now working as I expect. I had previously closed the project, closed Scrivener, and reopened, which I thought did the same thing, but still had the problem. Could have been fooled by looking at a saved collection r...

Re: Problem with keyword and custom metadata searches.

Both the folder that doesn't work and other folders that do work have include in compile checked.

Problem with keyword and custom metadata searches.

I have a project with lots (around 500) of pdf files used as references. These files were imported to the project with the "Import Research Files as Aliases" menu item, so they have the icon of a pdf file with the small arrow. I have organized all of these files with lots of custom meta da...

Re: Help with crash when Dropbox Syncing

JimRac:

Thanks for the pointer. I had searched but didn't find that thread. Pretty extensive. It was useful to me. I pared down my Dropbox folder to just the projects I am using and sync now works for me.

Re: Help with crash when Dropbox Syncing

Additional information: I compared settings between the iPad 10.5 which works, and the iPad 12.9 which does not. Under syncing and sharing, the 10,5 had sync Projects on Close or Rename set to WiFi only. It also had Check Dropbox on Project Open set to WiFi only. The 12.9 had both of these set to “n...

Help with crash when Dropbox Syncing

I have used Dropbox Sync with Scrivener for years without issue. I have a new iPad Pro 12.9 running iOS 13.2.3. I set it up from my old iPad 10.5 also running 1.32.3. I have installed Dropbox on the 12.9 and I can see my Scrivener files in the Apps /Scrivener directory. Because I set the 12.9 up fro...

Re: Adding custom words to Scriv dictionary?

Autocorrect is the best and also most frustrating feature of modern software. It sounds like part of your problem with being able to add words to the dictionary is that you can't stop the autocorrect from happening. You can stop autocorrect by hitting the ESC key (before hitting space, which automat...

Re: Compile to Multimarkdown

Thanks for the workaround suggestions, Amber. I hadn't figured out the conditions for seeing this, but now that I understand, I can work around it easily and still use the compile to Multimarkdown path. Interesting comment regarding documents with adjacent headings. I have used this often and seen i...

Compile to Multimarkdown

I am doing simple blog posts using Scrivener. In the Scrivener document I use Styles for headers and for bold, italic, etc. I am getting inconsistent result when I compile for Multimarkdown. I simply want Scrivener to turn the RTF into Multimarkdown. In Scrivener the first two lines of the document ...

Importing all documents in a folder as aliases

I am creating a fairly large research database within Scrivener for a writing project. I am organizing a large number of files (a few hundred at least) that are stored on my main drive in folders (fifty or so folders). Most of these files are pdf and can be up to 100 MBytes. Some of them are rtf fil...

Re: Searching - but which folder is it in??

I read this thread with interest because I have often wanted to know where a file in the search list was. Playing around with these options, I discovered that hovering the mouse over a search result entry shows the binder path to the document. Unfortunately, at least on my setup, this is inconsisten...

Re: Split editor layout question

Jim, Thanks for the warning. Although I rarely close Scrivener on the Mac, except when rebooting, which also happens rarely (once or twice a month?), I routinely edit the same files on my iPad. I have Scrivener on macOS set to backup before syncing with iOS, so every time I switch back and forth, I ...

Re: Split editor layout question

One more interesting tidbit about this issue. I believe it is caused by the system changing the screen resolution when the monitor powers up. I don't actually have to sleep the monitor from macOS to make it happen. If I just turn the monitor off and then back on, the resize occurs and the Scrivener ...

Re: Split editor layout question

Thank you, Keith. I'm sure you are right about the change in resolution as the monitor comes alive from sleep. Your suggestion to change the preference to "Always resize editors proportionally when resizing window" solves the problem for me. And I didn't realize (but should have) that doub...

Re: Split editor layout question

I have now determined that this only happens when the display has gone to sleep. After I wake it up, the size of the Scrivener editors has changed from 50-50 to 25-75. Also, I think this only began happening after I switched systems. For years I have been running a 2013 27" iMac. I now have a 2...
