Re: Who maps their fictional world (geographically speaking) ?

Thank you !

I was really hoping for something free as I really only need to do one map and can't justify that much expense at the moment.
( $35 US Dollars is about $45 of our earth dolllars)

But there's no doubt that FM seems to be an excellent piece of software !

Re: What fonts do you use?

I never gave much thought to fonts until recently. I changed the fonts I had been using (mostly Times New Roman, in a too small size) to Calibri 18 for all my Scrivener screen work. SO much better ! (thanks Karen Price) Thank you DavidWSnow for that post of yours. Your logic, and what you are wantin...

Re: Can one make a link in the Binder to another item in the binder?

I can't see how this would be of any benefit?

Perhaps if you can describe more specifically (or provide an example) what it is you are trying to accomplish?

Re: Scrivener Crashes When Loading Specific Project

For interests' sake did you figure out what was actually causing it to crash? Did you for example add a heap of big image files?

Re: Another app (Ulysses) moves to a subscription based model

The subscription model thing is something I dislike, but at the same time can see why it would be necessary for some businesses to move that way. A recent high profile instance was that of photobucket. That they moved to a subscription model isn't the real issue, but rather the abysmal way they went...

Re: Compiling an official document with PDFs etc

Awww, why'd you have to go and tell me that for..... Actually the more I think about it, the more difficult I realise that would be. I guess I'll just have to supply the info as a number of documents, with the existing pdf's separate. I suppose for the stuff I will be scanning I could just sav...

Compiling an official document with PDFs etc

Everything I have read to date talks about compiling with a novel in mind as the result. One of my 'projects' is actually a particular type of licence application to be submitted to regulatory authorities. The application requires supporting evidence. In my case this includes some third-party refere...

Who maps their fictional world (geographically speaking) ?

My cheese'n'kisses likes maps in books. That is, particulary in fantasy type novels she likes to be able to 'see' where the various places are in relation to one another. I'm writing a story for her and a map is going to be an essential requirement :) I'm wondering if anyone else creates maps as par...

Re: scrivener course recomendation

Well, I have just finished the course by Karen Price (Scrivener | Full Course on How to Write a Book in Scrivener), and I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone new to scrivener. I had been getting a bit frustrated with scrivener but now I have a much better understanding of it and a renewed confidence allo...

Re: scrivener course recomendation

I know it has been a while but I think it is worth resurrecting this thread, as UDEMY is currently having a sale with many courses (including Scrivener courses and writing courses) available for USD$10 / AUD $15 see: https://www.udemy.com/courses/search/?q=scrivener&src=sac&kw=scrivener This...

Writing courses on Udemy ?

I'm talking here about actual 'how to' write style of courses on Udemy. (as oppsoed to scrivener courses) They currently have a sale til the end of August so I have been wondering if there are any good courses on there. These look interesting, has anyone done them? https://www.udemy.com/humor-writin...

Use of chapters

Excuse the lack of the right words but I'm an new scrivener user. OK so I imported a word file I'd been using and broken each 'chapter' into separate section under the novels 'folder' THEN I read somewhere that I shouldn't have called them Chapter 1, chapter 2 etc as I have done. What do other do in...

Re: Including a character list ?

Interesting question - my wife wants just this for the story I'm writing her. My concern, and why I don't want to provide it, is that the inclusion of characters that have not yet appeared in the story, can spoil the 'surprise' element and give away plot point clues. A better question would be "...

Karen Wiesner's 30-Day draft process

This was mentioned in another thread. Anyone used it? Is it free or a book you buy? Where can I get it please? Having so far written my story in a 'as it comes to me' format I find myself having to refer back and forth a lot, revise and continually remind myself what's happened / where I'm up to in ...
