[LH4355] Transformations entry inconsistent in ebook formats compile settings (regression)

In the compile settings for ebook formats (and I'm assuming other places as well) the Transformations entry is missing on ePub 3.0 and Mobi formats. It is present on ePub 2.0, however and I seem to recall it being present in Beta 38 so it appears to be a regression.

Re: Windows and Mac versions going forward

I'm about 75% sure something similar exists in Windows 8 and above. Essentially, there's a way to enable a spell checker property in a textbox and richtextbox object. Last I looked at the developer frameworks in question, Windows still has no native rich text system that offers the sheer scope of f...

Re: Windows and Mac versions going forward

Based off my experience with the iPad version of Scriver and knowing how much of the backend macOS and iOS are identical, I'm about 75% sure something similar exists in Windows 8 and above. Essentially, there's a way to enable a spell checker property in a textbox and richtextbox object. Of course,...

Re: Windows and Mac versions going forward

(To give just one example, Mac Scrivener uses the Mac OS text system. There is no equivalent for the Windows platform.) Based off my experience with the iPad version of Scriver and knowing how much of the backend macOS and iOS are identical, I'm about 75% sure something similar exists in Windows 8 ...

Re: Portable Scrivener

My advice is just to try it and see what happens. I used to do that with OpenOffice about a 15 years ago when Office 2003 roamed the university computer labs and a 1GB USB drive was considered enormous. When you install point it at the portable drive, let it install, active and tinker with preferenc...

Re: Can I install Scrivener on Windows Server 2016 or 2019

If the server is in some kind of production environment and you're installing Scrivener for personal, local use I believe the sysadmin would have a word with you about attack surface area and security concerns. If you're running Windows Server for personal use in your own home my main question is &q...

I believe the closest thing you'll get to an official answer is "When it's done."

Re: Why have all my project files suddenly disappeared?

On Windows 10 I save everything directly to OneDrive and let it sync across computers as well as live on Microsoft's servers. It's not a robust backup solution, but it's better than nothing and even the free level is good enough for most Scrivener users.

Scrivener's SHA-1 Digital Signature may be causing slowdowns loading in Windows 10

When loading Scrivener in Windows 10 while using the built-in Windows Defender suite Scrivener takes a substantial time to load (30+ seconds off an SSD) due to Windows Defender scanning the program's activity. This may be related to Scrivener's digital signature using the SHA-1 algorithm that was de...

Re: Scrivener slow to open on Windows 10 with Windows Defender AV

I may have identified the issue. Scrivener is digitally signed in Windows, but uses the SHA-1 algorithm which Microsoft has specifically stated is no longer valid starting January 1, 2017. That's probably what flags Scrivener for extra attention. For what it's worth SHA-1 has been broken for more th...

Scrivener slow to open on Windows 10 with Windows Defender AV

This isn't so much a request for technical support as an observation/head's up since I found the cause for the problem. When I click the icon to open Scrivener it takes a ridiculously long time to open. Like sometimes from 30 seconds to a full minute on a gaming computer with a fast SSD and it's eve...

Re: Scrivener installed via Wine

Linux Mint 18 x64, Wine 1.9.22 Staging and Scrivener 1.9.7 installed via Play On Linux has locks up when trying to copy/cut from both keyboard and mouse selection. (Maybe a regression on how the clipboad is handled.)

Project word count taking extremely long time

I have a project that is fairly old (maybe 18 month to two years) that is just shy of 70,000 words and takes at least a minute on a high-end gaming system to generate a project word count. (Long enough to start a pot of coffee and come back to find it hasn't finished.) For comparison a newer project...
