Re: The Ghosts Of Snapshots Past

Hi, it's been a while and aged snapshots have become a problem again. Soooo, could you implement a function in the snapshot manager that allows you to sort snapshots not by document but by the time they were created? That would be very helpful, now that deleting all snapshots of a document no longer...

Re: Bug report: Writing history miscount

I wrote 1066 words today; Scrivener insists it's only a bit over 400.
I know this because I stopped relying on Scrivs count a long time ago since it always goes wrong as soon as I start copy/pasting things or moving scenes around. I use a spreadsheet instead.

Re: "It looks like you're going back on an edit you made last year. Wanna not do that?"

Ah. No, I knew about this. It's just not very feasible to use it while editing because if you're working with many versions it involves an inordinate amount of clicking, searching and scrolling and I get lost quickly. A function that would allow me to just compare versions of the paragraph or even s...

What, where, how?? I'm using v3.1.2 on Mac, so if you could point me to this function, I'd be very much obliged.

"It looks like you're going back on an edit you made last year. Wanna not do that?"

Hey all! I'm currently doing my yearly re-read of my entire book and for the first time I'm counting how many line edits I reject (I make notes while I have my phone read my book to me, then once I'm through I implement changes). It's about 1/10 currently and I have this nagging feeling that many of...

Re: Overlapping shortcuts

That should then clear up the 7,8 and 9 keys for Scrivener to use for its own purposes. The shortcuts I mentioned above - ⌘|, ⌘I{, ⌘I} - are the ones that Scriverner uses out of the box for alignment. TextEdit uses ⌘Ö, ⌘Ä and ⌘Ü for align left, center and right respectively, so there's no conflict ...

Re: Overlapping shortcuts

Do the 7, 8 and 9 shortcuts change alignment in TextEdit for example, or Pages? In TextEdit they give the nice 'can't do that' honk. On my keyboard, the shortcuts for these are ⇧⌘[ , ] and \ . Have a look in the Format ▸ Paragraph submenu and see which are assigned there. For me, the shortcuts I me...

Re: Overlapping shortcuts

what behaviour is meant by switching (like using the arrow keys to go from one binder item to the next?). That's exactly what I meant; also, when I'm in Scrivenings mode, having the whole draft selected and the view locked (⌥⌘L) ⌥⌘5 jumps to single documents when I press the shortcut a second time ...

Overlapping shortcuts

Hi! This might be a bug, but I've been known to make mistakes, so maybe it's just me... Scriv has this super useful feature where you can assign shortcuts to character/paragraph formats. The problem is that cmd+alt+5 still switches through binder objects, as does cmd+alt+6, even if you assign them a...

Yeah, as I said: clumy RegEx ;) - Thanks for the links, though!

Re: Those disturbingly random folder names

This is a snippet from my code in AutoHotkey (for PC). The called routines look for their anchor strings just as the outer loop does. You'll need to modify the logic to remember if uuid matches on linenum, then on linenum+1 record the title into your summary file... Thanks, both of you, for your sc...

Re: Those disturbingly random folder names

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm beginning to think, though, since I just need to isolate the strings that sit in between 'UUID="' and '" Type' / '<Title>' and '</Title>' from what's basically just a plain text file I don't actually need a fancy parser. I mean, RegEx is what Satan created ...

Re: Word repetition detector

I'd like to join in here. It would be super awesome if you could tell Scrivener to find all documents in which a certain word is used more than x amount of times within a span of y number of words. This would help so much with eliminating the 'Favourite Word of the Month'-phenomenon! EDIT: Although ...

nontroppo wrote:You could make a script to read the scrivx and create an "index" of which UUID maps to which Binder title.

Thank you for that information! Could you recommend a resource that could teach a complete coding novice how to do this?
