Re: .scriv file disappeared

Keith, I tried to explain both incidents at the time they occurred, but there was only so much I could say, not being a computer geek. The first time both Scrivener and the computer were turned off. I originally thought someone else had used the machine in my absence, but later found that to not be ...

Re: .scriv file disappeared

I have had Scrivener files disappear twice. Fortunately I had them backed up so I was able to recover them.

Re: Wiped again!

I saved all files and then put the computer to sleep. I am using Tiger, if that matters. The files for both stories are no longer listed under “file” and they are not in trash. I tried spotlight with no luck. I tried everything I know with no results. This is exactly the same thing that happened las...

Wiped again!

A little while ago I reported that I had two stories disappear from Scrivener, and I didn't know how it happened. I was told that such an occurrence was unlikely, and was told to supply more information. I could not do that, so I began the process of piecing the novel-length stories back together by...

Re: Work wiped out

Sorry I didn’t report this the correct way. This is what I can tell you. The stories were on the 1.12 beta and I shut down the program as I was about to shut down the computer. The next day when I turned the computer on and started Scriv, both stories were missing in their entirety. One person had b...

Work wiped out

Here's a pretty serious bug: Two novels just disappeared. I shut down the computer (MacBookPro) and the next day they were both wiped out. Fortunately, I had exported both of them, but I still had a lot of editing to do, and now I'm not sure I trust Scriv to hold them again.

Re: AppleScript: what do you want to see in the Scrivener Suite?

Am I the only one who doesn't know what AppleScript or Automator are for?

Nice to see I'm not the only one. It's like any other craft, I guess. You perfect the use of your tools, and you become a craftsman.

Exports

I have an export problem. When I try to export the files of a novel, to Documents, to a CD or to a Word document, Scriv sends the first chapter blank and the second with a brief outline I deleted long ago. It also sends the scenes ok, but those are very rough and have since been incorporated into ch...

That's okay. Portland is such a cool town, they have a right to crow. I live in a place with no bike trails at all.

Thanks to all for your help. Amber, I agree about Apple's viewer looking better. By the way, I hear the bikers in your town are fighting with the motorists for space. Good luck on that.
