Re: Edit note text without auto-resizing the note?

#1 is what I end up doing, constantly. It's a real workflow impediment in an otherwise speedy program.

Edit note text without auto-resizing the note?

(I attempted to search for prior answers to this. Apologies in advance if I missed one.) Sometimes I like notes to be wider than is strictly required by the text content. Scapple allows me to drag the note borders to increase note width. But if I edit the text of a note, the width automatically shri...

Re: A plea for non-flat Collections (or equivalent functionality)

That's pretty handy! The only thing I'd ask for now is ease of access. Is there a way to jump to a particular folder in hoisted state? i.e. Can you save a folder and its hoisted status as a Bookmark? Alternatively, is there any kind of quicker way to hoist/unhoist a folder? I don't see the option of...

A plea for non-flat Collections (or equivalent functionality)

As projects grow complex, being able to visually focus on a subset of the content becomes vital. (Apps like OmniOutliner exhibit this philosophy perfectly.) Collections are great, but as they don't support folder hierarchies with the same convenience as the Binder, they are limited in their ability ...

Re: "Start new physical page here"

You make it a chapter or something similar and specify that they should always start on a recto page. Following up... I see controls for specifying that a section after a page break is always a recto page, but not for specifying that any document with a particular Section Type always has to start o...

Thanks!

Every day I learn something new. Today I learned what a recto page is. :)

"Start new physical page here"

What's the most efficient way to indicate that a document must start on a new physical page, irrespective of what came before it? i.e. Something smarter than just a page break, effectively saying "Insert a page break if the current document would be a left-hand-side page, and the equivalent of ...

Re: Different page margins for different pages

I gave this idea a shot. However, it seems as if margin settings are per Format, not per Section Layout — that is, all Section Layouts in a project use the same margins, which are defined in a Format's "Page Settings" tab.

Or am I missing another way to set margins?

Re: Different page margins for different pages

Thanks Devin! It's a bit of extra work, but far easier than having to manually interpolate printed pages. I'll give it a shot.

Different page margins for different pages

I asked this previously during the Scrivener 2 days, but thought I'd see if a solution has emerged in the new version. Imagine a document that alternates text with full-page diagrams in PNG format. The diagrams have some whitespace built in around the sides, so it'd be desirable for Scrivener not to...

Re: Can page numbering automatically skip front matter?

Thanks for the responses! Here's a slightly more complex version of that request. Can I designate front matter, a.k.a. the non-page-counting-part-of-the-project, in a fashion other than one single block? In other words, could I have sections arbitrarily scattered throughout a project where page numb...

Namespace clash

Consider these two unrelated Scrivener 3 features:

Layouts
Section Layouts

I strongly suggest that you rename one them. Trying to search for help with either — in documentation, forums, or the help system — is an exercise in madness.

Can page numbering automatically skip front matter?

How can I... - have page numbers not display and start their count until page N? (so I can for example omit front matter from a page count) - (better yet) have page numbers automatically skip documents of a given section type? For example, "front matter" Couldn't find any answers in the fo...

Re: Can individual documents "remember" their Inspector tab?

There’s no setting for that, sorry to say. If you don’t mind using the keyboard, you might check out the Navigate/Inspect submenu. I use those shortcuts all of the time as I’m always bouncing from one tab to the other. It could be because of that I don’t notice much friction in switching tabs. Than...

Can individual documents "remember" their Inspector tab?

This is more a time-saving luxury than necessity, but I'm curious whether there's a setting somewhere that allows the particular Inspector tab last selected (Notes, Bookmarks, etc.) to be automatically reselected with the document. In other words, if Chapter42 last had the Notes tab open in the Insp...
