Re: Import docx files without converting - possible?

What I would like is if Scrivener behaved with .docx files just the way it does with PDFs. That is, that you could right-click on a file in the Binder and be given the choice to open the file with an "external editor," which in this case would be Word (and for my purposes, "external v...

Re: How to Format bullet points

This thread looks dead, but I know I had problems that might have been similar to the OP's. The problem was that when I'd change formatting -- line-spacing, anyhow -- Scrivener would lose the bullets. Solution is here: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=29677

Re: <3 <3 <3

Well okay I thought I'd come back here after using this whole scheme for the first time for a whole paper. It worked great, and I can't think of anything really to add to the information in the link I gave earlier. It sounds complicated but is really pretty easy, and fast. This was my first whole pr...

open file in external editor _only_?

I work with PDFs a lot, and while it's sometimes handy to have one open in a Scrivener editor window, I often open several in external Acrobat windows. But when I right-click a file in the binder, it automatically opens in the active editor window, even if I go straight to "open/open in externa...

Re: <3 <3 <3

Thanks, AmberV, and hi, tankparksalute! The biggest feature missing in Scrivener is that it won't write my papers for me (maybe if I bought a Mac?) so I'd be happy to fill you in a little more once the infernal typing is actually done. However, have a look here: http://zotero-odf-scan.github.io/zote...

Re: Reference to a specific page in an imported pdf

Use an external bibliographic manager? I use Zotero, and although there's a bit of a learning curve for the Zotero/Scrivener integration, it's dead easy to import citations on the fly and modify them for page numbers, etc. etc.

Re: Who lives in the rarefied air of portrait/vertical monitors?

I had been turning my monitor sideways, but then I got a decent 27" monitor to connect to my docked vintage Thinkpad (so I most definitely will not be talking here about magnificent display quality). In landscape orientation, it's about 13 inches high. I do nothing but academic writing, so befo...

<3 <3 <3

There really ought to be a category in here for testimonials. I adore Scrivener (for Windows). My poet/novelist roommate told me about it, so I thought I'd try it for my (solely academic) writing. There are a few things I wish it did -- like even some crude form of highlighting for PDFs -- and a few...

Changing line spacing in bulleted list removes indentation

Another simple question --

In a text file, if I change the line spacing of a bulleted list, the indentations disappear. Is this normal, or work-around-able?

"paste and match style" imports line breaks

This is a really simple question, I think. Sometimes I copy and paste block-quote snippets from PDF documents into Scrivener text files (using "paste and match style" -- Ctrl+Shift+V). However, the line breaks get pasted in, too, so I have to go through the pasted bits line-by-line to dele...
