Re: best option for running Scrivener on Mint 19?

Hey, Lee, I'm thinking about Crossover, and I tried it in VirtualBox, but none of the programs would install. I'm thinking either it doesn't work in VMs, or there wasn't enough memory to install it. It just stalled and didn't move. Can it install in VirtualBox and Mint 19.2 Mate or do I need more me...

Re: best option for running Scrivener on Mint 19?

I just found your reply. I'm running Linux Mint Mate, in a VM, now, not XFCE, but I'll try it the Wine Tricks thing. One thing I found about the AppImage, I can run Scrivener just fine, and the launcher is working OK, but I can't download one of my backups from Dropbox and have the AppImage find it,...

Re: best option for running Scrivener on Mint 19?

The latest Beta version runs under Mint 19.1 if you've got WINE installed. PlayOnLinux is just an automated "shell" with WINE underneath. You must install PlayOnLinux or other WINE compilation before you can install Scrivener. I run Mint 19.1 on an old laptop. I use CodeWeaver's "Cro...

Re: best option for running Scrivener on Mint 19?

Thanks again, and looking forward to your reply. BTW, I did read that post, but was more than a little confused and overwhelmed, so thus the questions. My posts are sometimes as clear as mud. Sorry. I think I would go with the AppImage option. I tried it on my laptop using a Live USB Linux Mint Cin...

Re: best option for running Scrivener on Mint 19?

RCentros, Well I tried it and the libpng worked and installed OK, but the gstreamer had broken dependencies. So what do I do now? Try Appimage? It's still not starting up. Since it's the same file as you said, both came up broken dependencies. Rats! Sad, now and really frustrated. BTW, I'm not sure ...

Re: best option for running Scrivener on Mint 19?

rcentros, Thanks so much, not just what to do, but where to get it. It's a little late now, but I"m going to try that out tomorrow. As far as making notes, I totally get you. I don't know where I"d be without my Tomboy Notes. As you've said SimpleNote, and Tomboy Notes (for me) are our bra...

Re: best option for running Scrivener on Mint 19?

I tried installing the Scrivener beta for Linux under Linux Mint XFCE 19.1, and it installed OK as far as I know, but it never started up. No error message. It just never started. I'm running it in a virtual machine (VirtualBox). I have XFCE 19.1 AMD 64 Bit, running it with 4GB memory with no other ...

Re: News of Scrivener 2.0

There's a lot of comment in the forums. There will be no "Scrivener 2" for Windows … it's leaping straight to Scrivener 3. As for when it's out, Scrivener 3 for macOS has apparently been in progress for a while, but there's no indication of when exactly KB will be releasing that. Scrivene...

News of Scrivener 2.0

Does anyone have any news about when Scrivener 2.0 is coming out. I haven't heard anything in a while, so I was wondering if there were any snags or what was going on. Can anyone advise? Also, since I have Scrivener 1.9.7 would it update or would I have to pay again because it's a major upgrade, fro...

Re: Scrivener not backing up

I checked your message again, and also a book about Scrivener, and realized I was trying to change the location from the *file* menu, not the *tools* menu. It's going in where I want it to; my Dropbox, so everything's working out well. I'm going to remember this. Sorry for the misunderstanding. My b...

Re: Scrivener not backing up

Yes, I did, and I'm still getting the same error message. It stalls out around 50% done. I even tried to redirect my projects that I'm working in Scrivener, and I'm still getting the drive P, and I redirected everything to my external hard drive (a Seagate) and a thumb drive, (the Seagate is Drive &...

Scrivener not backing up

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong, but Scrivener is not backing up. When I tell it to back up, it gives me the message "Scrivener can not create a back up file at p/folder name. I told it to back up to my external hard drive which is Drive F, not drive P, so why is it doing that and why...

Re: Scrivener 2.0 for WINDOWS - In 2015?

Will I be needing to buy the new major release when it comes out or how is that supposed to work. I'm starting to love Scrivener by the way and look forward to Scrivener 3.0 for Windows. :)

Re: I can't access my back-up

Sorry to hear you got a virus! Restoration can often cause permission problems like this. We have an article on our knowledge base that may help you out: “Location Access Error” when opening project . Amber, thanks so much. The Knowledge Base had just what I needed. Extract the files which ...

I can't access my back-up

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I had a virus on my computer and I backed all my files up(I thought) with Windows Back-up, and reformatted the computer. I had my backup on a thumb drive, but when I tried to open it I got the following message and I have no idea what it means(other than that I...
